your FM checks your logs.... then a 3rd party company audits them... then DOT does random checks... he did something else or had a trend

I have never had a problem over log issues. What I don't like is the limited information on the preplans. I never just send in a noncommit, if I have an issue I send a message to my fm with my question or issue. It is entirely possible that a load is do able because there is a pickup or delivery window, not an appointment.
Yes I have been pressured to do loads that while technically legal were not safe because I had been up all day and now they wanted me to drive all night. Part of this comes from the pressure fleet managers are under to get loads delivered. At Roehl this is the exception, with many other companies it is sop. In fact I left two other companies over this issue.sly1 Thanks this. -
This I find to be very true. I almost always accept the preplan and talk to my fleet manager about the order before i deny.
I don't know more than the next guy but I find if I constantly inform my fm about my eta and problems, I have no problems at all.
I wonder how much slack fm have in giving freedom to drivers? -
Your FM can't even decide when to go to the restroom without asking someone else. They are just the middle man passing info along to you, and then taking info from you and passing it along to the proper department when you have a problem. So always remember, don't shoot the messenger.

I do agree with you 100% and know you are right, problem is though, THEY typically act like they are your boss and you answer to them. They know everything thats going on out here and if what you say is different from the norm, then YOU must be wrong... They need to get off their high horse, not all are like this and i am not beyond letting the powers that be know this and get switched to a new FM.

If you want fun become an owner operator and then deal with a fm that is used to dealing with company drivers. They don't know how to handle a driver who can tell them no.
Those preplans come straight from the planner to the truck and fm at the same time. Unless the preplan says it's an appointment, there is probably a window for pickup and delivery. The planner is trying to guess what you can do when the plan is sent out, but they are looking at a computer screen, you live and work in the real world.thelastrebel Thanks this. -
I don't have to worry bout this since I have no FM at the moment and am with one of their bosses... no shooting... This only means it will be longer till I get into a rythm with someone.
I notice this as well, though with the one's that I no nothing of. Several are very nice and have been very helpful. I guess you need to remember that you need to check your tone and be pleasant if you want that it return. I've done both with way different results. -
They used to push me past 70 all the time
-
Really? If I had four hours left today and was getting four back tomorrow, they'd give me a load that delivered 5am tomorrow 350 miles away. They'd squeeze all they could get but wouldn't go way over.
