I have over 40 years exp, but my age is becoming a handicap. Are there any companies out there friendly to those of us a little long in the tooth? CDL renewed, DOT phys & Drug Screen passed in July. I am not on any reg medications.

In 2006 when I went to US Xpress they had a former driver go through orientation who was 78 years old, and they hired him.

Said it a million times on this forum, ill say it again. Big companies are NEVER the way to go. Try the local small guys in the area youll live.

I think you are right - No DAC or whatever it is called, more personal, the only way to go now. IMHO

Try Millis Transfer. When I worked for them the had a driver in his 60's training.
sailalibi Thanks this. -
This is very encouraging. I'm considering getting back on the road after being unemployed for 7 years (retired actually) but at 63 I'm a little nervous about being hired (planning on going thru another school) since I've been out of a truck since 2003.

I have worked with drivers that age and older. Learned a lot from them. I guess either drivers just love the road so much that they don't want to retire or drivers can't retire anymore for obvious reasons......

I got hired at 42, the guy hired in with me was 51. and a driver just retired at age 78. Just looking around my company it looks like they prefer older drivers. You will not have any problems.
