Out of curiosity, why would a driver ever agree to pay for damage. There truck, they make the profit, they take the risk, period. Unless you agree to pay they can not make you pay for damage. They can fire you, but not me I would have quit when they put the form in front of me. Drivers are there own worst enemy.
As to the deer, would depend on the circumstance, at our company. 9 out of 10 they call it as non-preventable. -
I haul RV's. Not normal trailers. We are paid to take care of them.
-
I've seen deer avoidance whistles in walmart...do those work? For $7 it seems like cheap insurance.
-
I have hit a few here and there, but always was a non-preventable.
Only one of the company's used DAC, and it is on there (just found out) and listed as non-preventable. -
FYI, if you hit a deer in your car, don't report it. They will list it on your MVR as an accident and it will jack your insurance rates up. Better to kick the carcass to the side of the road and pay for the damage yourself.

Must be your state.
My wife hit one, no increase. It is classified as Comprehensive in our state. -
I don't care, If you work for someone else, your a driver. There liable. If you pay it's because you choose to.
-
It depends.
If a flatbed loses part of the load and it strikes the trailer and we do not get the information from it, sometimes it is driver damage.
If you hit something on the road and it damages the trailer, it is driver damage.
I have never paid a claim, so I am only going by what others have dealt with and some of the other companies. -
I understand, but legally your not liable for anything as the employee, negligence or not. IWX and CTI try this crap with the drivers and threaten them with bad dac reports and termination if they won't sign and pay. Thats why I left IWX, they tried it because of some damage to a trailer that was damaged by a Wal-mart fork lift.
They make the profit, they take the chance, you work for wages. There liable unless you consent to it. Anyhow I understand were your coming from.MM71 Thanks this.
