Congrats ORG. Looking forward to hearing about your time out. Do enjoy the time with your family. Relax and relax some more. There are some great people on here from Swift who will be a great asset to you as you head out on your own. I know they will be more than willing to lend you a hand and give you excellant advice if and when you need it. Have a great 6 days off.:biggrin_255::biggrin_25525:

You're gonna love/hate that time off. I took 4 days but was ready to get gone after about 2. Ya done good ORG and the best is yet to come, i.e., NOT sharing a truck!!!!!!:biggrin_25525:

Yeah I *feel* like a real truck driver too! I'll be working on my updates in between driving all of the way to Colorado, and spending time with my family when I get there.

Thanks for all of the encouragement, Sammycat!

ORG, Congratulations to you, fine sir!:biggrin_25514:

It seems like yesterday that you were suffering the aches of driver training school. And now, you've weathered the 4+ weeks of company training and succeeded in reaching your goal. You have set a fine example for all of those who will follow.

I consider myself fortunate that I was allowed to be a part of the readership while the story unfolded.

ORG, you can be proud of what you've achieved. Make sure you share the joy with your family and friends.

Running hard don't automaticly make you 'better' than anybody else in your orientation class. Just means the trainer ran the !#$% out of you. Which is what happens when Swift only requires "X" amount of hours in the left seat till you are "done". And i dont like it. Makes the mentor out to be the bad guy, if you didnt pay attention and end up wrecking the truck your first month out. I'd rather they go back to 42 days on the truck...that way you'd get more than "X" amount of hours, and get better training. NOT saying your training sucked, or you suck. Just saying in general, that is what this current system will produce.

Heck, you might be the best driver Swift has ever seen in the last 5 years. i'm not saying one way or another....just saying that it will be TOTALLY different when you get running solo, and there isnt anybody behind you that will correct your mistakes.

One thing i remember a member of our Edwardsville team, who passed a few months ago, told me during a class. "Swift pays you to make good decisions." Make a dumb one, and ding the truck...even if its a tiny tiny scratch....its an accident, and more than likely.....preventable. When in doubt....GET OUT AND LOOK. and DBL.......DONT BE LAZY. =)

oh, and openroad.....when you get assigned your first truck......if you get a little nervous like when you went out on your first date.....its perfectly normal. =) :biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523:
