This last one that took all night was at a Walgreens DC in Perrysburg, OH. No lumpers needed.
Received a preplan today. A load picking up in Fostoria, OH going to Branson, MS, but they want me to t-call it in Columbus. Ok. Problem was they only showed 31 empty miles on it and Fostoria is more like 80 miles from my house. So I called to ask about that and it turned out they still had me sitting in Perrysburg. Got that straightened out and their giving me 70 miles empty. Better than 31!
Leaving tomorrow morning, so I get one more night in my bed.
Be safe out there! The Challenger and JustSonny Thank this. -

450 a week for training is...bad wages? Chripes, I been working for worse than that my whole life ^.^
I think my BEST averages out to 380 a week -
Hi Sandy. Unless they've made changes again, which I doubt because the economy still isn't booming yet, the starting pay is actually 25 cent/mile for about the first 3 months I think. But time goes so Quickly out here that you'll get thru the raises in no time at all. I've been solo for about 6 months now and I believe I'm getting 32 cents/mile. Sometimes it is really hard to keep up with their pay program, it seems to be somewhat inconsistant sometimes. If you run out west, you get an extra penny per mile. The short runs can pay more per mile, but you also may or may not get a short haul pay bonus. It all works out pretty good in the end.
I did get the milage problem worked out for that load coming off my hometime straightened out. Actually got paid 97 empty miles and 94 loaded, plus the short haul pay. Then the next day, I had to go back to almost that same area and pick up a load going to Front Royal, VA. From there, I picked up a hazmat load of paint going to Miami, FL. Sitting just south of Jacksonville, FL right now waiting to continue the run. I have an 8 am delivery time at a body shop with no place to park and no truck stops in the area. Looking forward to checking out Miami, but a bit nervous about the traffic. I'm sure I will get thru it ok. Just take my time. -
A quarter per mile to start is correct. Ain't much, but it'll do!

Hope ya'll don't mind but I am going to jump in here for a second. I went to Swifts website and it is fancy and all and they seem like a good company. I was just curious why there are a lot of bad things on here written about Swift? I have read of the more positive stuff as well on here and it seems like Swift has the miles to keep you rolling.
Can't figure out why so many people are bashing them so hard?
I have been doing a lot of research here lately and I think I may just go to the local technical school and take the 10 week class they offer. Does anyone know if Swift hires tech school graduates and if so do they make them still go through some kind of training? If so, do they make you pay for the training even though you have your CDL coming in? What kind of weekly check do you average as a newbie?
Thanks. -
Not the big checks you were talking about wanting in another thread fo sho. As said here, about 450 a week training, then .25 a mile starting out. Why do they get so much flack? Simple mathmatics.
Most trucks on road = Most trucks seen = most problems seen
As for the rest, ask a recruiter perhaps?JustSonny Thanks this. -
Is Swift a stable company? I know they have been around a while. -
Swift is the largest trucking company in the USA right now. over 17k trucks, yeah, I would say they are 'stable' and I dont care how experianced you are, your not gunna see the paychecks you want for a nice long time especially sense you are wanting in the realm of 20-30k more than you already make, assuming you make better than a regular joes 25k a year or even a teachers 42k (After 10 years and no masters 30k to start unless your in detroit/similar then its 35) your wanting to make about 70-100k a year to reach that 20-30k more than the obviously (By your bragging in another thread) you make now.
As a company driver, the best I have heard of (And there may be better out there) is .42c a mile assuming your desired pay of call it 80k, is not take home but pre tax:
Thats 190,476.19- Miles a year....
Or
521.85 miles a day. Every day. No Resets, No home time, no break downs.
or
average of 52.185 MPH, for your 10 hours, every day, all day, no stopping for fuel, pee, or anything else.
So, sure, I guess its possible. And when you achive it (As you say you will) I would love to see it and be the first to say grats.
I know this is coming off as a bit snide and rude, part of that is lack of sleep and the other is I just got off the 'union or not' thread
Yes, They are stable, No, the noob pay aint great, but for most, 40k is a good start. THe questions you are asking, are awnsered repeatedly in some of the most active threads on here, some of them even in this very thread! (Like starting pay)
Drive safe.
