I am new as new can be. I just finished a private school, did well. I really enjoyed it all but I know that I hardly know a thing. I am scheduled to leave Grand Rapids, Mi. for Central Refrigeration Services in Sault Lake City this Friday. I have no idea what to expect. I am very flexible and adaptable but I also would like to be as prepared on my end as much as I can be. I have always gotten more enjoyment out of going from point A to point B than spending time at point B. I am excited and apprehensive. My mind and emotions have been on a "wild roller coaster" ride for a couple weeks now. What if I get sent home? What if I struggle with yard maneuvers again? My road test was awesome. I got 100% and I was surprisingly complemented by instructors and examiner. I know I really want to do this. I just know that what I don't know that I don't know can hurt me and others. I have read many positive posting on CRS but would like to hear of recent experiences. I have no reasons for being apprehensive of them at all, but I have talked only to recruiters.

Lonesome dove, read many of your posts about CFS. Are you still with them? I am scheduled for orientation on 10/04/10. Any advice?

Nope, have not been with them for about 2 years. But I talk to people that are still with them all the time.

Thanks, already went through a private school here in Mi. I am scheduled for orientation on 10/04 for 3 days, then out with a trainer for 5 weeks. I would really appreciate any info what so ever. I am very excited but just a rookie.

My husband just started leasing and he is in a 2011 International. Had it for 2 weeks and already 6 recalls on parts. I think at 6 months when he has the option of keeping it or turning it is, he may be turning it in to get a different one if they keep having recalls. The beds are bigger, a fridge is already installed and it is quieter in the cab than the Volvo. Everyone has their own preference on what they desire though too. Not sure how it pulls compared to the Volvo, he hasn't really told me that. Though I do know his airbrakes got disconnected on his way to deliver a load and the cab brakes were able to control everything though it was a little more difficult.

If he had one with a fridge in it he was lucky. It means that another driver bought it and put it in. It did not come that way.
So his next one most likely will not have it.
The recalls are a pain in the rear, but remember, once they have all that stuff replaced it will be done. And he will be rolling without money out of his pocket.
I do like the sleepers in Volvo's better than in the prostar. I think my prostar pulls better than most volvo's I have driven. It rides smoother and it looks better.
I have put over 100k miles on this one and I will be going to the shop in the next day or so for my first breakdown.
They think it is just the secondary part of the DPF needing to be emptied out. So a couple hours at the shop. This needs to be done about every 100-150k miles.
Also every 90k or so you have to have the injector on the turbo replaced. If this is done the DPF normally will never need a parked regen and will work allot better. It gets clogged up.
This is on any Cummins engine truck.

CD Me and my trainer had a loaner prostar that actually came with a fridge. I thought it was weird too but they told us up in leasing that the prostar limited comes with a small fridge.
