Whatever is hardest to the op, the important part is to study the three parts of that book and know it like the back of your hand. -
I actually failed airbrake[by one point, you're allowed to miss five questions] but passed the two others,so I had to take airbrake over on another day and passed[only got one wrong].

section 4 is passenger, you will NOT be asked questions about that.
doubles, triples, tankers, hazmat are different test to take for those endorsements.
sections 1, 2, 3 are for "general knowledge"
section 5 is for air brakes
section 6 is for combination vehicles.
for your permit, you would need to take, "general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles".........in order to get your permit.
take money, may be "up to" $100.00 for test fee's..........but usually, not that high, just be prepared.
in "some states", if you fail any test, you wait 10 minutes, pay the fee again, take the test you failed.
in "some states", there is a 5 (or more) day waiting period to re-take the tests you failed. -
My opinion as a student is wait and get your hazmat once you are hired. Most companies will pay for you to go get the endorsement after your hired. I didn't get it and have been prehired by several companies, and have even had a company call me after I filled out the app but didn't follow up with them myself. One of the recruites even told me not to go get it until I was officially hired on after orientation.

UMMmmm........actually, i recommend a student get it ASAP just after he/she get's the new driver's license. i recommend that a person apply for the hazmat finger printing to be done approx 4 weeks BEFORE graduation. it takes "some time" for the FBI/TSA background checks to be done, as at certain times of the year, there WILL BE backlogs of applicants. you DO NOT want to be on the road, with your trainer, have a hazmat load, and NOT be legal to haul it. that will P/O the trainer, since he will now HAVE to drive and earn his money.
just about every carrier requires hazmat. of course, some do not we all know this. but by being prepared, one is able to do the job right out of the box.
I DO NOT recommend getting the endorsement (written test) done while in school, as then any DMV test site (road/skills test) can AND WILL test you per hazmat rules. as a student, you would have way too much to worry about passing the skills/road test, you DO NOT NEED the extra burden of doing it under hazmat rules.
so, while IN SCHOOL, and about 4 weeks, BEFORE graduation, apply for the finger printing..........when you go for your skills/road test and PASS and get you new license, THAT day........take the hazmat written test. by that time, the TSA/FBI background check should have been reported to your local DMV, and you will be cleared to take the written test.
now, you have MORE to offer your new employer, and they can work you, with out having for them to worry about getting you home, for the finger printing, then back on the road, then going back for the tests, back on the road..........get it.........????Spacecoast Thanks this.
