MaMa Bear Thanks this. -
MaMa,you mat want to consider Bay&Bay out of Rosemount Mn. off rt52 by Inver Grove Hieghts. They run a Mid West regional deal there. You won't make a ton of dough, but it may be a start.

TY Gitty and bidwist for that advice, I appreciate it a lot! Have either of you heard of J&R Schugel? They are out of New Ulm, MN and I've heard other truckers say they are pretty good.
Thanks! -
They have nice trucks but I dont know if they hire trainees. Never heard anything bad about them. But I may not be in the know???

I would need a mere 6 months experience to drive for them and that is from their website.
I've heard good things about them. I just need the 6 months to a year before I can apply.
Want to hear some bullspit that DCTC told me about their driving school? The admin assistant for the program told me that I would get so much time in the seat in 2 months, that I could put on an application that I have 1 year experience. That doesn't sound right to me at all. -

Well, I'm still a rookie myself (5 mnths outta school), but here is what I have learned. I went with a smaller tanker co b/c of $ and hometime promises. I really wanted flatbed but options were limited. Took the tanker gig and have been driving for 5 mnths now. I am about to move to the flatbed co that was my orig #1 and now I have exp to cut time with a trainer. Long story short, any co that hires new drivers is only going to be a start. Get all the miles and exp you can get and keep working toward what you want. But try to start in the type of hauling you want. One last thing I. Have heard a lot is if you jump from the first job early (like me) be prepared to stay at job #2 a few years for stability. Hope I could help.
angeleyesinfl and MaMa Bear Thank this. -
Thank you so much captmorgan and camofrawg83 for that information, it has helped me tremendously in my quest.
One question back to camofrawg though. How long would you suggest I stay at the first company that I work for out of school to get the best experience to drive for the company of my choice? -
Depends on the situation. I would say just long enough to get to the Co you really want to be with be it 6 months or 2 yrs. What I have heard a lot I job hopping in trucking is highly frowned upon. As for a starter co, do your home work, deciede what you want to run and where. Not saying you won't have to compromise but its a start. If you want regional reefer, start there and look around, but don't just jump on the first co that says yes. I turned down 3 co's outta school, not cause they were bad, just not right for me. Go to a few local truckstops and see if you can chat with a few drivers. I also have a great source with a recruiter if you want to go that route. Any help I can give just lemme know.
MaMa Bear Thanks this.
