Our company put us into a cascadia dd15 last year. We are a team and have had nothing but problems with it. The first week the fuel line was kinked and the clutch switch malfunctioned. Since then we had the motor overhauled twice so far and we are looking at a possible third time right now # 160,000miles. Other problems include political maneuverings with the warranty resulting in major down times.

I purchased a New Western Star in may 2009 with a DD15.When the truck had 82,000 kms I started to have low power problems.I complained and complained on deaf ears.In May 2010 I finally got someone to kinda listen. In 3 months this truck has been in 2 shops and 7 weeks of down time and no one seams to know whats wrong.Even Detroit tells me there is nothing wrong, but the problem now is the the truck keeps shutting down.It has been in the shop now for over 2 weeks and they want it for another week more at least.I have contacted a lawyer and he would like to know if anybody else has problems with this engines.I'm probaly going to end up walking away from this truck because of this problems.Cann't make money and sit at home aii the time.

My son had big problems with the fuel system on his 300,000 mile '00 379 with a 565 ISX... after six months of excuses from Cummins and the Peterbilt dealer he hired an attorney and filed suit...The dealer bought back the truck and my son had to sign a confidentiality agreement preventing him from discussing the terms of the settlement.

I think it's time to hire an attorney.

    To all,

I am a fleet tech for a large company that is currently running numerous DD15's in the Freightliners. I have seen nothing but issues out of most of them. Not just the Engine, but the tractors as well. When they're running they run well and pull well, with roughly 5mpg as far as i can tell. Very quiet and smooth units. Although...

    Problem after problem!

    - EGR problems(wires & sensors)
    - Wiring issues(harnesses)
    - Fuel leaks(Steel braided and chaffing/rubbing nylon lines)

It seems like some of the units we have are constantly in the shop for one thing or another, as compared with some of the other engines and previous model Freightliners.

It's a roll of the dice! Some are pretty decent and some are lemons.:smt017

    Krooser,
    good for him.

It is sad to see so many trucks sitting in shops for weeks at a time, all at the owners expense. 'Sorry bout your luck' attitude has to stop, before we are all driving camels to move loads, and not stoopin-scoopin
Glad to see the little guy get somewhere.

I see, not a total loss then. Good for him ! I have a friend whom owns a Cat C-15. Tractor was in the shop for a week looking for a minor miss at 1200 rpm. $1150 later he still has the miss and they say there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm glad someone got something from a manufacturer. I'm in the middle of a huge battle right now with Cummins/Peterbilt for an 09 I have that was 2 weeks off the base warranty and the piston came right out of the block. They won't warranty it because they claim we ran it with low oil pressure for 3 hours which is a lie. My driver wouldn't run it with a low washer fluid light on for crying out loud. I don't want to go the lawyer route just yet and I'm hoping for some "goodwill" to come through. I have 14 Cummins motors between all of my equipment and I can't believe they are giving me zero for warranty.
