First off ... I don't know you ... and you don't know anything about me ...
Everybody has their own problems - but that's not the issue either.
If an O/O, cant make a decent living without having to work 80hrs per week, and 18 hr days - they are running too cheap IMO.
The poster stated that they prefer a certain schedule ... which is another matter.

If I were willing to live on the road like a lot of people do, I could pry run legal and make the same money i do now.
When I started driving,I was trained to run the same as i do now. for years, as a company driver, I ran my ### off to make someone else money. about a year ago i got my own equipment and the paychecks went up considerably. i figure if i ran that hard running for another company, i may as well keep doing it for my own company. I make very good living, but there's always more to make.
Plus the fact that i took 2 weeks off, this and next. i've had like 10 weeks off this year. and still making pretty decent money. I run hard a month or 2, take some time off. i don't want to live on the road, i have a family. so considering that, i may as well make as much as i can when im out there -
This is along the same line--electronic monitoring of our citizens. Friggin scares the crap outta me... Mobile Backscatter X-ray. Yes, they are using this here and now.

George Orwell was a prophet. -
If you work for a carrier like that, you need to go elsewhere.
In my situation, it just provides better information into the system - we get a better fit to our hours given the available loads. No one is being "monitored," unless you're one of those drivers that can't manage to get 50-feet down the road without screwing it all up.
So, the deal is - if this is passed (it will be, don't doubt that) your little world of being an outlaw is over. This is what we get to contend with when some folks just can't be satisified with what is available under the rules - and then go out and kill 10 or a dozen people. The gov steps in, and screws up the party for all of us because of the greed and indifference of a few.CivilWerks, otherhalftw and zentrucking Thank this. -
Who are you addressing with this post?
I can't believe, that at 55 years old, you are willingly buying into all of the electronic monitoring going on today in the name of safety and homeland security. Hitler would have had multiple orgasms over the gizmos that are available today.

And what I really wonder about... I wonder if the Nazi-SS-loving employees of the DHS actually believe they are fighting terrorists?truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
i would assume he was refering to me. it's comical how people roll over and take whatever #### sandwiches they are dished. oh well. actually i think that even when this does finally get passed it will takes years for them to figure out how to keep us from tinkering with it. by the time its all figured out, i will have made my money in the meantime and ill be able to sell the truck and let everyone who loves the idea of being babysat deal with it.
Injun Thanks this. -
Fine by me.
Nazi's? If you believe that, you need to go live in a country that is truely ruled that way. Try North Korea. -
I fuel up, buy a coffee and am out the drive passing a gaggle of other drivers parked along the curb sittin' there with their rulers.crc32 Thanks this.

Ironpony, I'm gonna go ahead and pull the soapbox out from under you...
So basically the difference in how we do our jobs is your company is bribing the FMCSA by putting in tattletale boxes to let them do things the rest of us can't? And my driving is a safety issue?
Don't preach to me about running legal when a blatantly corrupt government organization lets you run under different rules then they do me.
Actually, go ahead and preach. You being willing to drive for a bottom-feeder like PRIME with 3 years experience speaks volumes to me. We have nothing in common and there's no point arguing. I'm not content getting #### on and working for peanuts. You are used to it so retarded regulations that don't make sense are nothing new to you.allycatt2 Thanks this. -
for the record, that quote came from page 4 of the thread titled "trying to load me past 14 hr"
