That data is imported from the Truckers Friend. Rand will forwarded it to be corrected if you can give us details.

All,
Some new issues have popped up after many of you updated. Some are new, some are just there. I am going to post some general suggestions as to maybe how to correct. Until I can duplicate here and test, this would be my best guess.
1. Will not do a backup - uninstall the TND Dock and reinstall. If you are computer savvy, on your TND under Navi and RM are two user folders. you can copy them to save your data. If you wish to do a full backup, think of the TND as an external drive. This is now it is after an update.
T5B
Internal
Navi
RM (if not on version 10.9.1760)
External
NaviMaps
NaviVoices
RM (after updating to 10.9.1760)
T5C\T5E\T7C\T7E (before and after updating to 1760)
Internal
Navi
NaviMaps
NaviVoices
RM
2. Will not export log miles - see #1
3. License Error - This is a tricky one. E-Mail me on this one and if you are computer savvy we should be able to recover the TND.
4. Navi.exe on boot up after an Update - reboot the TND (not connected to computer). If it does not clear the error - E-Mail me.
5. Fatal error - see #4
Their are a couple more, but they escape me at the moment.
What causes these errors -
1\2 - could be a bad download of the TND Dock
3/4/5 - Could be bad download of the data, esp when downloading the maps.
When you are downloading the maps you cannot disconnect the download. The OLD License file on the TND is not build for the new maps and if you disconnect you have a mixture of old\new map data. When you get the complete download of the maps a newer License file is written to the TND.
After you do the version update, it asks you to verify your files. If you feel you got a bad download of the maps then do this step. It does a verificaton of your map files and will replace any incorrect map files.
If you already did the complete download, then hit the update button again, it will doublecheck the version download then ask to verify map files. Please do this first before calling Customer support. Reason is that this step can take about 45 minutes. You can also do this to give you a warm and fuzzy that you are good to go. THIS will verify MAPS only.
I hope this helps. Any other issues, then post it please.
Thanks,

Thanks for your fast response Mark. My unit is up and running, no more map errors, no more critical errors of navi.exe.
Thanks!!!!!Mark Kling Thanks this. -

thanks,

If you get an Navi.exe, cannot start main navigation engine, or fatal error on booting up after this update...
Verify that on the TND in the Navi\user folder you have a navigation.lic file. If not, contact me via E-mail.
Thanks,

I just did the update and it went quite fast. Somehow I don't think it updated the map info, at least I am certain there wasn't any 2 GB download as it didn't take long enough for a download of that size.
I have a T7E which I have had for a while now so I doubt the new maps would have already been in it unless RM has been sitting on them for a while until the software update was ready.
I can say that so far I like the changes in the software. But then, I have been liking the unit all along.
Mark, thanks for all of your help. So far any questions I may have had were already answered in previous posts.
I would like to know how this new automatic driver status change works. When one stops does it automatically switch from "driving" to "on duty"? Does one have to manually go to "off duty"? Just curious how it does this and what one needs to do to let it know the difference between "on duty" and "off duty" -
Manual - simply you have to push the off duty\on duty\driving
Auto - off duty, roll 1 mile it will change to driving, if you are in
Driving - sit 15 minutes -> on duty -> sit 15 minute -> off duty
On duty -> sit 15 minutes ->off duty.
If you are in auto mode, you can still press the other driver status,, it will just reset the 15 min clock..
Also note in main screen\preferences\truck
New icons for car and truck
odometers\maintenance\state miles - all can be set to either car\car&truck\truck only mode independent of each other.
under Route
recalculation - now auto or manual. If manual, it will calculate the orginal route, but in route if you go off route, on the map screen, upper right will turn red and ask you to recalculate... if you press it will recalcultate, if you do not touch as soon as you are back on your orginal "red" route line it will continue the trip.
Thanks,

Thanks, Mark. Now I understand how the automatic status change will work. I appreciate the explanation.
I've been using GPS both on land and at sea (not to mention the woods LOL) for many, many years and still find it amazing how far the technology has come from the old days of marine Lowrance units. -
Now I got to figure out the other part for resets, 10 hr breaks, real clock 10/11/ versus 24 hour clock to give you a more real time est of arrival...
Thanks,
mark -
I do have one suggestion, which I haven't yet sent to RM. Could they possibly incorporate a means of logging empty versus loaded miles in the state mileage logs? I realize that this would be yet one more screen button somewhere (airliner ####pit controls image again LOL), but it would be helpful for those of us who need to break the miles out that way on our paperwork and fuel taxes.
I know there are still issues and minor bugs to be solved, but this would be a great feature.
Although the TND700 isn't perfect (what is?) I find it to be a fantastic tool when used correctly. No GPS is perfect and they aren't a replacement for doing one's job and planning out a trip, but as an informational tool I don't think the TND 700 can be beat at this point.
After all, one doesn't buy a hammer and expect it to build the house for you, but it sure makes it a lot easier to do so.
If you ever need additional testers, let me know. I have a lot of experience in both alpha and beta testing of software, mostly in Linux.Dieselboss Thanks this.
