I know that once I slide the OD button forward, when I let off the throttle, she will automatically shift into OD range. What is the PREFERRED way to get it back to HIGH range?

I pull the button back, but if I let off the throttle, she files into NEUTRAL
until I rev it. Sometimes if I feather the fuel I can do this nicer.
I have tried accelerating after pulling the button and the trans does nothing.
So what is the proper way to get her OUT of OD and back into HIGH?
I dont want to hurt anything in the trannie here...

Don't take your foot off the fuel pedal all the way. Feathering the pedal is the answer and practice how much to lift your foot. I move the button, let off the pedal, then slowly add fuel. You will find the sweet spot with the fuel pedal with practice.

Direct and Overdrive is the term. To go from OD to Direct, flip the button from OD to D, let off the gas to disconnect it (seems like NEUTRAL) then gas it into the lower gear (higher RPM).

Thanks guys...I guess I will keep practicing this. I like to skip gears between 7-direct and 7-over and back when not on the highway of course-

13 overs usually have around 250 RPM split between gears.

If you're upshifting at say 1500 RPM flick your button and then drop your revs to around 1250.

Downshifting is just opposite. Flick your button at 1250 and bring revs up to 1500.

Straight transmissions (non-overdrive) split around 500 RPM.

Some drivers I seen flick the button early and then wait... a while... until it's just the right rpm to shift. This is not good practice to pre-select too long either way, best to flick the button just before it's needed...
