"Mature" Newbie needs some help!

Say whatever y'all want to about Swift, but before I left from being a company driver, I had some family stuff going on. I never once had trouble getting to where I needed to be to take care of it. It was some pretty serious s***, too. They even held me close to the area and ran me local until all the dust settled. My terminal folks showed nothing but concern and made sure I had all the time I needed.....and still made some miles to collect a paycheck while I was doing it. Even let me use that company Volvo for personal transportation.

There is a terminal in Lancaster, just south of Dallas. I've had pretty good experiences with them even though it's not my home terminal.


My word of advice: don't wait too long after you get your license to get a job. If you wait too long, you will be required to get refresher training before getting hired. And make sure you know how to double-clutch before you leave that school. Most bigger companies require it during your road test and there are some programs that teach floating only.

Texoma, I live in Collin country, and Grayson County Community College is my first choice for CDL school. How has your experience been with the school? And, could you elaborate on gaining WIA funds? Does the Texas workforce commission work in concert with the school? thanks.....
