So I bought the 700 a couple of weeks ago so far so good except one thing so far I will try explain the best I can. I am a straight truck driver that runs all New England, New York south to Baltimore. The only problem I have found so far is when I am on what is called the Berlin Turnpike in Connecticut also know as route 5 and 15. The Berlin Turnpike runs from the Meriden and Berlin town line to the Wethersfield and Hartford town line. South of East Main Street Meriden 5 and 15 split trucks can go route 5 which runs through Meriden, Wallingford and so on all the way to New Haven. Route 15 however south of East Main St Meriden known as Wilbur Cross Highway no trucks allowed. When traveling 91 north and you take exit 18 roue 15 north which you can do with a truck nothing happens. After driving about 2 miles when 15 north merges with route 5 north I start getting warning on bottom of unit saying the road I am on is truck restricted. Which is not true, I can drive this road all the way north on those two roads for as long as they go because they do split again in East Hartford. It also keeps telling me to turn trying to get off that road. Also when coming down route 91 south if you get off exit 28 which is for route 5 and 15 south (Berlin Turnpike) the connecting ramp is about 3 miles long once you go by the first exit for route 99 south I start getting the warning for restricted road going that way which is wrong you drive that road south until you get to the split for route 5 to Meriden and 15 south to 91 south and East Main st Meriden. At that point the ramp continues and you have to get on 91 south to left because to right route 15 continues and there no trucks allowed. If have any questions on this you can email me. Also if you need a beta tester that drives a straight truck in the northeast area let me know.

Your answer sir.. the Navteq core data show has this entire stretch of US-5/CT-15 as no trucks.

Mac users that have a T5B - in readusting files and folders, a file or DB that stores your state miles was moved to the external SD Card. If you get a new Flash\external SD card to replace your older maps, your state miles will be on the card you send back.

Two options. - Could be more, but basic options

1. Write down the state miles and at the time you replace the "newer" external SD Card you will have to enter the mileage manually.

2. Have someone that has a TND Dock installed do a backup of your data, update your TND on his PC (with new external SD card installed), and then do a restore right after the update.

You should not have to do the map update as you will have the newer maps already on the external SD Card.

Yes truck tools is set to straight truck. This road has all kinds of trucks that go up and down it all day including oversize loads.

All, The only model that uses the External SD Slot is the T5B. This is in your serial number on the back.

The T5C/T5E/T7C/T7E all have a slot, but please do not use it. It is not used nor called to in these models. If you have an SD Card in the external slot on these models and you do an update it will put the NaviMaps on the external SD Card, but the program is looking for the NaviMaps on the internal Flash. You will get an error on your TND booting up.

If you have a T5B, Rand moved the RM folder from the internal drive to the external drive. But, as in anything things get overlooked. In the RM folder is a file under User that records state miles... Dock version 82 does not point to the external drive to backup\restore or export your state miles.

So,,,, if you have a T5B you will get a big error when you try to export your state miles..

Update,,, my mistake on this error, I was using a T5B that I was re-flashing and forgot a file... and the Dock just happened to look for that file... so oops....

After installing the new update, I have noticed the following 3 issues.

1) With the "auto scaling" option on. The screen shows about 100 miles while driving on Interstate highways and when I zoom in with the "+" key it only stays for a few miles then changes back to 100 miles. Before the update it showed approximately 8-10 miles. (this was a perfect view)

2) There is no longer an option for "truck only POI's. With all POI's displayed there are too many icons to see the streets when on street view.

Main screen\preferences\device\autozoom - change to street\city\county, prob set to autozoom

Main screen\preferences\truck\car POI's on/off

Main screen\preferences\truck\Truck POI's on/off

HELP!
After downloading and confirming the correct installation of the new map files last night, my TND500 now says "Map license error. Some of the map regions used here have expired! Please visit
http: // randmcnally.com/TNDmaps to purchase additional licenses."
I have a T5C.
BTW, that web address doesn't exist.

I'm on the road and stuck without GPS routings. Reverting back to paper maps ....
