It's a reasonable idea. It would require more detail, however, especially regarding the driver training they both received.
Also, more information on ORG's transition from company training to solo driver is essential. This way it can have an epilogue of sorts, closure, if you will.
It would be a good read.AfterShock Thanks this. -
I wouldn't leave you guys hanging!
I have a *ton* to update with you guys, I know. To make a long story short, I spent time with my family, and now I have a truck.
Now I'm going to go back and see where I left off with my story and begin to update. Since I'll be driving a truck and all of that jazz, I expect I'll be more active now on these boards when I get the opportunity but I have a lot to catch up on so that'll take some time.
Thanks again for the support you've provided. While I haven't been in communication, I thought about you and Chris and my family, and this helped me get through this process. The process aint over, that's for sure!Merlin1477024, difference-maker, DocFrank and 6 others Thank this. -

We're looking forward to the continuation of your saga.OpenRoadGuy Thanks this. -
Wow, I *really* have a lot of stuff to update on. I'm definitely going to have to stick to some of the highlights.
So to step back for a second, when we had a load for Massachusetts, we had to spend the night in Massachusetts. I learned very quickly that there are *not* a lot of truck stops in MA or on the East Coast in general. We stopped off in a brand new truck stop that had a grand total of *two* parking spots. This truck stop/convenience store was located right next to the consignee, so that was the only way we found out about it.
In fact, we were planning on sleeping in the unloading area of the consignee, but my mentor saw a Swift truck in the lot next to us and walked through the backwoods to get to the convenience store and saw there was another dedicated parking spot for a truck. Now I know better, but at the time I wouldn't have thought of looking over there for a truck spot. It literally looked like a simple convenience store, and did not have a major name like Pilot, Loves, TA, etc.
My mentor likes to think ahead, so he have an ETA on when he thought he'd finish his delivery in MA including unloading and was provided with a pre-trip plan. He realized that the plan required me to drive while he slept in the sleeper, and then he'd have to complete the driving. In other words, he realized we were being treated like a team. The problem was, I wasn't ready to do team driving, and hadn't even met the minimum requirements for it yet.
So my mentor called his DM and got things straightened out. He expressed frustration with the planners, and I was later to learn that this was long term frustration, and justified based on what I could tell.Schmidtrock, Wedge, Merlin1477024 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You know what? Here's what I'm going to do...
I need to put humpty dumpty back together again. I can't remember the days, and the order of everything anymore. I'm going to consult my log book which will easily help me to remember everything. For some reason when I'm reminded the order of events, even if it's just a general outline, it allows me to remember all of the little details and when they happened.
So I'm going to start from the beginning and give a proper blow-by-blow account of everything, just like I did when I was going to CDL school. I'll put those accounts on my word processor and when I have the opportunity and an ISP, I'll go ahead and post them here.
Don't be surprised to see me post like 8 posts at a time and then a couple of days later follow up with 5 more, etc.
I think that's the best way to do this thread some justice.Big Don, Merlin1477024, difference-maker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Smart plan! Will be a better read, expecially for those wanting to know what to expect, than if you cut it short. I look forward to reading about your journey.
Merlin1477024 and Wedge Thank this. -
ORG, I thought I got some heat from these folks when I "went missing" for awhile during the time I was doing OTR training, but, I think these people here who have been following your progress were ready to string you up.
Glad all is well! Oldnew...Wedge, sammycat, Merlin1477024 and 1 other person Thank this.
