Suppport Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products.

I have now used the update for several days, all in the same region though, between Columbus and The MD DE area.
I like the highway view of the route, it is much better than going past all the garbage (do not take this exit, construction etc) and just show the route.
I turned off the auto zoom again on first trip. Drove me nuts.
I normally like it on the 5 mile range.
It is routing the full route much faster than it ever has. So I can actually look for truck stops in route. Could not do this most of the time before since it never finished routing.

My truck icons disappear all the time now though. Only did it on occasion before. Now it is all the time.
Does not seem to be lagging on the bright/ dim when I turn it on anymore. Goes pretty quick.
I will download the maps at home this weekend, to see how that goes.
But so far it is a much better product than it ever was in the past. And I am grateful.
Still wish I could have saved the 150 bucks the new guys buying them are though.
Unit is still going strong after a year in use though.

 

I like the unit......a far cry from my orphaned copilot 11 but the truck only route thru eldorado kansas does not exist... not good for people not familiar with the town...does the unit still calculate miles driven in state with unit off? just asking would like to utilize the miles for ifta....

 

well ....... I deserved that....just thinking well outside the box....it creeps me out! I go by a speed limit/change sign ..... and it changes.....

 

Mark, yesterday I was trying to get some budget hotel info for Salina Ks. Several hotels were found but none of them had any info when you clicked on them. My father in-law said Ca-60 going east to I-15 in California still is listed as truck restricted. Were most of the map updates for the east coast states, so far nothing has been fixed from Utah to California or Utah to Arkansas that I have seen.

I love the Highway view and the Manual Recalculate features.If I run all day with just fueling stops and quick restroom stops the auto logs is very close to acurate. It says I run out of driving time 15 minutes early according to the Xatanet truck logbook computer but I kind of like it that way, a nice early warning system,LOL

 

Is it my imagination or is the Weigh Station Alert adjustment gone? My 500 now does an alert at 1 mile, used to be set at 3 miles.

 

Allot of the personal settings were reset to stock when you updated, if not all.
Just go in and change it.

 

My issues have been resolved by Ray Allen over at RM tech support.
The problem was that the Navigation.lic file was missing from the navi\user folder. It somehow got corrupted during the update (we're still not sure how). The unit would boot, but if you tried to map a route it would give you the error I posted earlier. You can duplicate this issue by removing the file I mentioned. He emailed me the missing file and now it works perfectly again. I like the new stuff in the upgrade.

Side note. I found a mislabeled truck stop in the database. The Flying J on US30 in Cokeville, WY is labeled as a convenience & liquor store, not as a truck stop. Therefore, it does not appear on any truck stop search.
Also missing from the truck stop database is the Petro in Glendale, KY. The Petro Lube service station shows up, but not the truck stop itself.
I probably would have never noticed these omissions had they not been part of the fuel stop network used by the company I work for.

The setting is no longer there, toll booth, speed limit and state border is still there.
