I did not actually break down because I was able to drive another 33 miles after the air compressor quit. By watching the pressure gauge and avoiding the brakes, I made it to a truck stop. The trailer brakes began to drag as I was backing into a parking space, but I was able to drop and bobtail to the garage. The shear gear on the accessory drive was slipping. They had one in stock.

I thought I was smart and changed all the hoses (including heater hose) in my truck to silicone and had enough left over to do the whole truck again(except for the heater, which I can just shut the valves off to). So where did I spring a leak? In the braided coolant hose going to the water filter. I was feeling pretty silly, having enough hose to redo the entire truck except for the water filter. Fortunately, I just had to wait for it to cool down and bypassed the water filter with remaining good hose. This was coming down Jellico Mountain, felt pretty stupid overheating going down hill. It was a small leak, and it was absolutely pouring down rain, so I couldn't tell until the gauge started rising.Independent Thanks this.
