What did the witnesses say? Why were you charged and what was the citation?

What I deduct is just from what little I see is just an opinion. You posted looking for what others think.
I agree with MrBeast that it hit your truck at a slight angle into the tandems and spun perpendicular. Your driveshaft is broke. If he hit your tandems, it wouldn't be broke. He hit your tandems and driveshaft at the same time, then spun.

You claim you never saw the vehicle until it was in your mirror. So you don't know where it come from. I believe you were sitting at the light and started to make a left turn in front of the car based on your qualcomm satatement. But how does your truck get from the right lane sitting to the left lane. The back of the truck is barely in the intersection in the left lane like you were racing to turn quick?? I believe the car was opposite direction by the damage to the passenger side only taking the blunt of the damage. If the driver was coming perpendicular and swerved to the extent he hit you sidewards, there would be sideward tire marks on the road indicating that. There is no indication he hit you straight on so you can only deduct he was opposite direction. I think both drivers were distracted. It was an accident that could of been avoided. Did you mean to? No.
You made the statement you never saw the vehicle, yet you question why he didn't see you?? You're the professional and should be looking all directions in an intersection. You should of saw him if he was left, right or straight in front of you.

We had a similar accident near where I live where a firetruck turned in front of a silver car and killed the passenger. He claimed he never saw the car. It's very easy to miss certain car colors blending in with the background if you ain't paying 100% attention.

 

Did you collect any information from the witnesses who said the driver ran the red light? What happens now, do have to do jail time, pay big fines? Civil suit? Sorry this happened to you. It sure could happen to any one of us. Every day i get in that truck and pray and ask God to keep me safe as well as all those i encounter on the road.

 

The simple fact is it can happen to anyone of us. That's why it is very important to practice safe habits every minute you're on the road. Many don't think that way.

There has been truckers sleeping at rest area off ramps that got rear ended by a drunk that got killed. The truck driver ends up getting the rap.

Lawyers know how to twist words around to make the good look bad and vise versa.

I wish you the best. Who's fault whoever it was, it wasn't meant to happen. There is no malice. Maybe god was ready for that man. He made it by you a train would of hit him or something.

 

Get yourself a real lawyer and appeal it. Do whatever you have to do to pay for it, including filing lawsuits after you win the appeal. From what I see, you got hit from the side by a car that ran the red light and they know it.

Here's the evidence. They would not charge him with failure to yield for running a red light and even if they did, no reporter would put "failure to yield" in an article when he could put "dangerous truck driver runs red light." Also, you can see in the pictures that there are no skid marks at all. If the car hit from the front and slid around, the rear tires would have left marks as they slid across the pavement. It looks like the car saw the truck pulling out and tried to turn to the left to avoid it, which would have caused it to hit the axle at an angle great enough to force the axle back and break the driveshaft. I've seen that happen as a tow truck operator. There's more there that any competent lawyer will have a field day with, so go get one.

 

Hate to say, but look at the damage to the front/right corner of the truck box in the second photo. The drive shaft isn't boken. It fell out of the tail stock when the rear axle was shoved backwards (they just slide in there). You can see in the photo that the axle is still a bit outta whack, and that both tires are flat. The damage to the car, considered with the above, as well as the debris found directly under the rear of the box supports "opposite direction/failure to yield". Having said that, I wonder if there was a truck in front of the car as it was coming to the intersection that you did, in fact, yield for. This would explain why the car didn't see you, and vice/versa. I live in Port Clinton, just north of this intersection. So, I know it can be a dangerous.
Again, I hate to say, but if I were you, I'd consider myself lucky to have come out the other side of this one as you have. You're alive! Count your blessings! And, thank that judge! Someone has lost a parent/child/sibling. I'm sure they would much rather have seen him lose his license for life. For LIFE.
