OK, now that is a different situation entirely. When you are dragging a damaged trailer in for repair, is a whole lot different than being to lazy to close it.
The LTL that I worked for would give you time off for moving a trailer at all with the door open. And that included an empty trailer just in their yard.
The owners were very serious about this, and for a very good reason.
legal or illegal

What would the safety dept think of that?

That happens but..... If the door "un-jammed" from a bump those rollers would fall out and become projectiles since the track is what holds them in place.. Once that happened a cable could snap.. I'm sure you've seen rollers fall out and door cables snap on the dock..
Just call dispatch for a service call and kick your feet up till they get there.. And enjoy your breakdown pay while doing so.. Sooooo not worth risking your job or someone else's safety on the road...wulfsbergvw and walleye Thank this. -
So that was your pallet jack laying in the middle of the road....

LOL...I've left them a few times on customer's docks.jakebrake12 Thanks this.

HaHaHa .... Was it green ?? Haha

No damnitalltohell, it was mine. And it DID cost me, even though the pallet jack was returned, and did NOT kill anyone. But I had nightmares of that thing coming off and taking out a woman as she pushed her baby stroller across the street.
And I make this post with total sincerity. -
I see ltl guys with the door up in town once in a while.
Last week I saw a truck headed east over Altamont with the swing doors open.
Anybody want to guess the name of the company? -
Did it start with a big blue S? Lol

Landstar? See 'em all the time in Laredo between forwarders. Just to long to close 'em I guess
