May be a rookie question. Guy supposedly has a Cummins big cam in an '80's vintage IHC. He's trying to ID the turbo, cast in name in Holset. Any info I can help this guy with?:biggrin_25525:

I'm not positive but I know that is a well know holset turbo that they use on the bigger cummins motors. If you get me the engine make like big cam what I can get a buddy to look it up at cummins or I might be able to find it online with some searching.

Holset turbo is owned by Cummins but they are sold lately to most new engines out there. The Holst Variable Geometry Turbos with the rectangular electronic actuator with the circular design in the middle was first used by the Volvo 625HP D16 and now are used by emission Volvos, Macks, Detroit Diesel DD15, and the new Paccar MX engine, and the Dodge Ram 6-liter pickup and they are all Cummins. :biggrin_2556

I know about that because Cummins was the assisting engineers on the volvo and Mack motors. As for detroit I thought they were using Borg -Warner turbos? This is a motor from the 80s so it is nothing fancy just a journal bearing turbo. Is it one of the old KTTA engines that was a compound setup? I need to know if it is a big cam I II or III or IV
