It's a speed contest. Kinda like two company trucks: a Swift and a JBHunt trying to see who can get to the bottom of the hill first without setting off the overspeed alarm. Whoever gets there fisrt without wrecking or getting in trouble wins.
Wrecks only count against you if you can't blame it on a four-wheeler or weather.
You get points back for creative descriptions of your attempt to get out of that speeding ticket.

I know a couple of owner Ops who have the software & cable to connect their laptops to the truck ECM & they change it at will mostly for the new mandatory limiter law in the eastern provinces of Canada. No idea what it costs to buy though. If it's a Volvo you MIGHT be able to access through the display on your dash but you again need the pin # ? In the UK speed limiters are a seperate unit attached to the engine & not the ECM so while on a Volvo Driver Trainer course they showed me how to access a speed limiter section through the in cab display & where to find the pin # but i have never tried here so until i do i dont know if thats the same section of the ECM thats used here to limit a Volvo ? & NO i dont tell anyone where to find the Pin # there are many settings that drivers shouldnt mess with once your into the deeper menu.

They used to but don't offer it anymore. I tried to order my last truck with a higher number speedo just for laughs but the stopped offering it. I though no point in having a 100mph + truck and only have an 80mph speedo. 3:36 gears and full size 24.5 wheels/tires makes for a fast truck. 1000rpm in 13th at 55mph.

Do you have a pyrometer? What does that gauge read when you are lugging around 1000rpm?

Don't know how you figured it but you could not be doing over 48 mph. Do the math. 13 speed is .73 overdrive # 1000 rpm = 1370 rpm, through a 3:36 gear = 407.7 rpm to the axle, tall 24.5 have a rollout of 10.53' per revolution = 4293.08 fpm = 48 mph. You don't need a higher speedo, just one that works.
