Along highways, signs of serial killings

I see that a lot of you see this public opinion about truck drivers and I have to say that before I became a truck driver even before i thought of becoming a truck driver I never thought about truck driver or had any opinion of them. I did not think they were scumbags or not I just did not think of them. So I ask what is this public opinion? I think Its more the opinion of the press not the public. More of the public have not been to a scummy truck stop but may have herd of then through the media. So then again its media opinion. Having said that we truck drivers know more of the scummy truck stop than any one else and base our opinion on fact first hand and the general public gets the distorted view from the news. Although the act is tragic the media must spread fear in order to get the ratings which is their main goal.

The begining poster story said that the (singular) criminal would possibly be a trucker.

Now, what side is your steering wheel on? You want to toss a body part out the window (probably at night so people dont see). If your the sole driver it will go out the driver window and be on the side of the road away from where they found it. My guess is, they are looking at 2 people. One the driver, the other the tosser. Just my 2 pennies

 

I don't really know what is meant by "the general public", but I know I love my job and I have noticed a marked IMPROVEMENT in the general appearance/odor of truck drivers over the last 9 yrs.
I have a bro in law that is a pilot and it has amazed me how interested he and his pilot friends are in what I do for a living. I am always fielding questions from these guys about this line of work, and they all have the UTMOST respect for truck drivers. I was taken aback when I realized that all the people that knew I drive a truck professionally would seek me out at social and family events to ask me questions about HOS rules, hazmat regs, where I've been lately, etc. etc. Another Bro in law of mine's girlfriend had a lot of questions about those "gators" we leave behind after blowouts and such....and "where does all that rubber go that wears off the trucks tires?".
I think if we, as truck drivers, all behave in a friendly manner when we get asked a lot of questions, and just be honest with these questioners, the percieved "image" of truck drivers will change for the better. I believe it is already happenning! "They" think more highly of you that maybe you think!
