If you know how to manage your personal finances and tax situation there is no upside to per diem pay ... if you don't know how to manage your personal finances - it's all downside because, well, you don't how to manage you finances.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Everett
Give me a call at the office, my name is Ace and my direct line is 913-233-4229. I am in between 7-4 central time, and out of the office 11-noon. As long as i can verify your past driving experience, i do not see why we can't try and get you back in a truck. As far as getting you home on the 30th-31st every month, that is something i do not get involved with, that is something for the dispatchers to decide and one thing i do not do is speak for my dispatchers because all that does is cause trouble. That being said, i do know my dispatchers are really good at working with drivers so take that for what you will. -
I have been with Maverick 6 months and I am at .41 cents a mile. On top of that I can get perdiem and I have qualified for the fuel bonus for two quarters straight for more than $1400.00

I'm not following you Jim.
I'll say this. A per diem might not be bad if you put it on top of a fair income. But to put it on top of $0.23 cpm is pretty much financial suicide.rookietrucker Thanks this. -
Repo i would like to hear your thoughts on how it would be suicide.
-
If you plan on buying anything that requires a loan its financial suicide. See what kind of house you can get with your $25,000 - $30,000 income.(2500miles a week for 52 weeks is only $29,900) You might even be hard pressed to secure an auto loan for anything over $8,000
It also financial suicide when it comes to filing a claim for workers comp, disability, unemployment, it even affects your social security.
Im curious, what do you see as the advantage for the per diem? And does Butler charge the driver for being on the per diem?
I guess its a great thing if your paying child support that is based off your income. -
Tango transport and werner basically did the same thing.....guess what! My house and cars are paid off thanks to the money I made.
If you think Butler is ripping drivers off, than you better be fair and say 90% of other companies are too cuz they do the same thing...Everett Thanks this. -
Wow you have been driving for 8 years and took a loan out and paid off a house.. I was talking about buying a house not a trailer. Not that there is anything wrong with trailer park living.
Werner and Tango... you seem like a person who makes good decisions. Thanks for the info. -
Repo, you do make some valid points, but I do know that you can get statements from the company that will show the income earned off of the per diem to show your true annual income when you are ready to make such purchases like a house or a car.
