Well today is the day to begin the withdrawal! I will start the half dosing of the long acting drug and tomorrow I cut back by one short acting during the daytime hours. Wish me luck all! I'm also going to be taking a drug to help with the withdrawal symptoms but only for the short term. I will update as I'm able on here and thank you all for all of the really great support you have been through this whole process!

Good luck mamabear. Im sure you will do fine. Need to vent you can always PM me.
I finally made it home for a day then ots back to work. Been working harvest for a week and have put in 9- hours in six days. Had I worked Sunday I would have came close to 110 hrs for a total in the week. But this isnt about me. You take care and take care.

Thank you shriner for that encouragement! So far so good actually. I think the toughest part will be when I stop the meds after weaning them down to very small doses. I've done that before and so I know that is where the problems are. I'll let you know how it goes all in all.

Wow Shriner, I didn't think you could legally work 90 hours in 6 days! You must be crazy tired. I hope you get paid by the hour or mile. lol
Good luck to you and keep the coffee handy!

Well several days into the withdrawal and I'm still doing well. I started the Sam-E and I'm not sure if that is helping yet but I do seem to feel better. I'm taking it 200 mgs three times a day per a pharmacist's instructions. I'm also working with my mom to make me some pants that have extra padding in the knee area with pockets for some warm packs to be slipped inside. I'm making sure that I will have full movement and function of my legs while driving in these pants.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've made contact with my orthopedic surgeon who has operated on my knee in the past. She agreed to see me in early November to entertain the idea of doing arthroscopies on my knees to clean up the problems inside my knees before I start school in December. The surgeries are minor and since I've had them before the recovery is less than a week. After that week, I will be asking for Synvisc injections which is a ultra slippery fluid that replaces the fluid in a joint that has weakened for whatever reason. I've had those injections before also and they do help. For any of you with cartilage problems, check into the injection. The docs have it down to a science to where only one injection is needed. Miracle stuff.

Here is what I call a sign from the Universe that I'm bound for the trucking world.

On my way home from a friend's house along a 15 mile stretch of two lane highway I passed 6 semi's!! I've never seen that many EVER along that road but then again its harvest time in my rural area but still, I'm taking it as a sign! LOL

    Withdrawal Update

My withdrawal off of my medication is going very well. I'm totally off of the short acting narcotic as of yesterday with only a slight headache which the anti-withdrawal med the doctor gave me took care of. Tomorrow I cut the long acting drug in half, so that means I'm only taking the smallest dose that the pill comes in and only once a day at noon. I hope this dosage drop will go as well as the other.

The pain isn't any worse off of the meds as on the meds believe it or not which makes this whole endeavor soooo worthwhile! I'm feeling so positive now that I will be able to live without the drugs and be able to drive for a living!

    More later.
