I am having our engineers double-check.

Yes, we seem to be taking an early exit, but it looks to me to be a major road (391). Not something with a 3 ton limit.

I am having our engineers investigate further.

You are referring to a map update, not a whole new model. I do not think Garmin is going to upgrade you to a different model for $75.

To perform the update, we need to rework your unit to make it a 7750. Sorry but yes, there is a charge to do this. You will get your unit modified, a whole new software package, and all new mapping. This is substantially more than a $75 map update.

Converting your unit to a new model is a bit more than an "update". I understand what you are saying, but we have at least paved a way for you to get a new model.

    A 7700 plus an update = still a 7700.

    A 7700 plus major rework = a new model (the 7750).

If other manufacturers do it for less than half the price, please provide some examples!

Our engineers have confirmed that our weight limit for that bridge is wrong. It will be corrected in the next map database release.

This sounds like a similar problem that we are already investigating for that area. It should be fixed with an upcoming software release.

I drive a Cascadia. I have the 7750 (just bought it 3 days ago) and I refuse to mount it on my windshield for a number of reasons ( oh look. lets break into THAT one) (have you SEEN some of these people with 4 and 5 devices blocking their view)

    But I digress...

Its mounted directly above my climate control system, out of site and within easy reach to use and reset. I have NEVER had less that 10 sats at a time and a "very good" health. The suction cup holds right to the dash with out any extra assistance. The only thing its "blocking" is the switch to lock in the power divider. I think I can live with that.

I have been using ATT Navigator that came with my phone and it was always maintaining signal even in my pocket and in the cup holder so I knew a regular GPS would do the same thing.

How bout you go and troll the Garmin site instead?

I'm rather amused by your intelligent and informative posts. I am sure they would find them very helpful.

    Brian,

Is there going to be a thread for the 7750 or will you just continue this one?

The reason I ask this is that, last night I came across a road that did not exist on the GPS and my PCMiler did not have it but Google maps did. Both got the address wrong. Mapquest had the road and got the address correctly so you'll be able to see it both ways.

    Route:
180 Victory Blvd, Cochranton,pa to 2290 Menlause Road, Berea,ky (this house number did not come up and it defaulted to the closest which was 1899 and still wrong) Menlause road is also listed as KY1983. The new road is KY956 and the physical location (Pittsburgh Glass Works BTW) is on the southwest corner of KY956 and KY1983.

As I posted earlier, I had been using ATT Navigator on my phone and PCmiler in tandem with given directions so I got to where I needed to be easily enough once I realized there was a problem (its pretty neat to watch yourself driving thru the countryside) Now its just the Cobra and given directions. My laptop thanks you for the needed downtime.

I also found out that this is gonna take a little bit of thinking and deductive reasoning. The shipper is listed as Meadville, PA. The road doesnt exist in Meadville. I chose "all cities", scrolled thru the streets til i found it and entered the street number and it told me it was in Cochranton and put me right at their gate.

If this is the way you can update the maps to make a better product, then I am more than willing to supply all the information you need as it occurs.

From what I've read thru this thread is that the 7750 is VERY different from the 7700, menu-wise, software-wise and I am glad I chose the extra $50.00 and went with this one.

Almost every issue addressed does not exist or does not happen for me so far.

Almost every issue requested has been added.

I DID notice that the H/W version of mine is GPSM7700 so I see what you did there and I just saved a LOT of money buying the 7750 at retail. S/W version is 2.0.0.19 and I assume this is the latest.

Saw the post about the new website as I cannot get to the AURA updater page and the link you posted came up 404. SO..If you have a new and improved link, I thank you in advance for it.
