Greetings all.......54 yr old starting school on October 18th. Your site offers invaluable info and insight on the trucking industry.....glad I found it.
I'm in Arizona and attending school here......any advice on what trucking outfit to go to after obtaining my CDL?
I was given apps on Werner, Stevens, and Swift. After reading some posts, seems as though Stevens is probably the better choice?
Thanks in advance!!!!
Potential student here.....

Welcome to the forum Gilmore19...
Sounds like you've got a date set for school to start, so I'd call you a student, not potential student! Are you going to a truck driving school or a community college?
There's even more places you can apply that take recent grads including Schneider, MCT, TMC, TransAm and more. Don't just rely on what you read here, do some serious research on your own. Pre-apply with a bunch of companies.
Again, welcome, and keep us posted as to your school experience!JustSonny Thanks this. -
Thanks Gears..........for the warm welcome....I am attending Southwest Truck Driver training.....I drove a straight truck fuel/lube for 12 years with a class B CDL but gave it up in '97.
I will definitely look at all possible resources. -

Welcome to the board Gilmor19! Gears is right. Load up on research plus do some personal contact with recruiters.
There are many, many carriers that take on new drivers. All of those carriers have some bad press here on the forum. I drive for Swift. Swift gets more nasty hits than any of the others but, bottom line, I'm out here now as a solo driver, making bucks, staying busy and lovin' truckin'. -
Thanks guys for all of the encouragement....I've always had a deep respect for you long-haulers and now, hopefully soon, I'll be joining the rank and file!!!!
I'll keep you updated on how school and job search goes!Gears Thanks this.
