OK, so US X is forcing people to team for the 1st 6 months? I just don't like people that much. I can handle the training time, but 6 months. Crap.
So I also have pre hires for Werner and Roehl. Do they force team as well?

hmmm...you sound like me i don't like people that much as well, which is why i have a small circle of friends. But when the economy is crap like it is now and your forced to get wages for jobs around home that you have not gotten in 10 years (me) you'll do a little team driving. Im running with CRST and am DONE after my contract is up, one thing i hate more than teaming is going backwards in time and being offered a job for pay that you can't even live on let alone feed your family.

Yep, well I do like people for brief periods of time. I'm personable and typically people like me. They just drive me nuts. Oh well, got to do what ya got to do. Maybe I can drive my partner nuts and inherit the truck
A steady diet of chili and Korean Kim-Che ought to do the trick.
ooooooyaaa

Explore your options. Roahl does not force you to team and werner does depending on your hiring area. Try applying to usa truck, TMC transportation, Trans Am, Conway truck Load. There are more options. Also give Squire transportation a call too.
KHMaxxdad Thanks this. -
Thanks King Hunter. I just sent two more applications. I almost feel guilty or "uppity" not wanting to team drive. I just know my limitations when it comes to people.

i had done the "forced team" driving when i first started out, and it sucked. there was no "match" the company would team you up with. they claim they "try" to find a match for you. the smells of BO, the lack of time behind the wheel, the uncooperative nature of some, the backing skills, the unpleasant attitude in the truck AND at the customers and on and on, make team driving a chore some of us HAD to do at one time or another.
if you get stuck with the team driving gig, just do the best you can and go about your business. when at a truck stop, get as far away from your co-driver as you can. watch tv or a movie in a separate room if possible. use the "reading room" if one is available and read a newspaper or magazine. you want to be apart from your co-driver fro a while, as both of you would have had noting else to talk about, after or about the second day together.
6 months will go by as fast as you want it to, or not.......when you get a bunch of lemons, make lemonade.........

Oh my, yes, teaming is horrible.
I had a scheduled 2 weeks with a fellow trainee, the man could not drive. His shifting was (GRR RRR RRR RRR) terrible. Could not back and when he did manage it (BAM!!) slam into the docks. I have no idea how he had a CDL.
After a week of this I told my dispatcher to take me out of the truck with this guy or send me home. He gave me my own truck and I was on my way solo. -
Search thru fleetdirectory dot com, there are numerous companies that hire noobies up near Virginny !!!

All great posts and insight! Thanks. I'll stick it out if it happens. Your right six months is nothing. Builds character.

The fact is new drivers have little say in their job responsibilities just like in any idustry you do what you are told...
