Some of the stuff they do is cool, but most of it is so over the top, that I couldn't see myself driving something that crazy!
'Amercian Classic', the aforementioned Pete, did look cool, but being OTR and having to live out of a 48" flat-top would get real old real fast.
At least they are doing the mechanical work, even though they don't neccesarily show it, because that would suck, having a pimped-out rig that get lots of attention, but can't even haul its own shadow.
I figured this thread would have been full of people p/o'd at them, since they yanked a crapped out CAT from one guys Freightshaker, and replaced it with a 515 detroit.

Personally I would love it. I would sell the gaudy POS circus wagon to some billybigrigger and go out and but a nice clean plain jane Mack or IHC. I might even have enough left over for a good used detachable goose neck trailer

You guys are missing a couple key features of the show, there general goal is to help people out, I think the concept is great some of the trucks are alot more flash than I personally like, but they build the trucks most of the time to suit the people who own them, the flat screen tvs are a nice addition, who wouldnt want a tv? did anyone see the Ice Breaker episode? in that one they yanked off his sleeper and gave him one twice the size. Most custom shops like to show off sometimes any artistic type will run with an idea given the chance. If your paying them I doubt you'd be dissapointed.

I think the biggest thing you guys are missing is that a company full of young guys has the respect for these people to help them out. They mean well and they do good. In this day an age I find their approach to be refreshing.

I remember a driver was written up by DOT for having trash up to his dash board. I was like DOT can write you up for something like that and my boss said yeah, it is dangerous to have so much trash in the front area. How in the heck could you even get in the vehicle I wondered. NASTY :). If you want to keep your home like that fine (I don't agree, especially if kids are involved), but a vehicle full of trash like that! DISCUSTING :biggrin_25510:

Despite how horrible the trucks look coming into the Pilot at Joplin for the beginning of the show, that part of it is staged. I highly doubt that any of the trucks are as trashed out as the show makes them out to be. You see trucks at the beginning of the show with lights out or missing, chunks missing out of the fenders, and all kinds of problems, and most of that is staged. If not, the scales in that area would be in real trouble for letting these supposed junkers run past them.

It's like the American Chopper show where it is heavily edited. They show you 30 minutes of the truck being redone, when in fact they take about 5 weeks to actually do everything. You are seeing less than 1/1600 of what actually happened there.

It's a fantasy show, not a fact filled show. And I did see one of the trucks for sale a short while back in the truck trader. Seems the guy did the right thing, let them make over his truck, upped the value, and he immediately went and traded up to a newer plain jane model with less miles on it.

Yep. If I remember, Stoops in Indy had it advertised for sale last summer. I would never want to have the hassle of maintaining a show level truck, and I am sure that on further reflection, neither do these guys.

I watched one the other night and they set up a pull down movie screen on the back of his cab, but to use it anywhere he had to pull the trailer off and set up a projector on the rear behind the 5th wheel. Now that's a real useful accessory to have. Imagine a typical truck stop parking lot, and you have to drop your trailer and hang your truck out 20 foot in front of it so you can set up your projector and watch "Convoy" outside in the company of 2000 mosquitos...
