Here is their AUGUST 2010 ad in Craigs list! I sent them an email asking if you can opt out of the per diem and their reply was NO! So read this and see what your actual pay is then that oh so wonderful steal from you per diem! Why not just pay the full amount and forget calling that extra .09 a "per diem" I forgot to ask them how much they charge for the privilege of having that .09 taken out of your check? Yes it's forced if you need a job but do not want that per diem taken from your pay check so that your taxes at the end of the year are lower and you'll get better unemployment in case they fire you, or better pay on workers comp and best of all your social security will have more in it when you get older!

Anyway the pay starts out at a staggering .23 for a whole mile! WOW where do I sign up or should I just click the link! ROFLMFAO! I made 23 back in 1992! What an insult! They almost are candidates for the Rollover BFI award!

We tried to explain this to the marine sergeant, kivikon or something.

But as long as he can get 4000 miles a week, he didn't care !!!

yes, do not go there! their trucks break down quite a bit. I know a team that used to drive for them and they were always broken down some where. DOT rating sucks, you get pulled into the scales every time.

 

my truck doesnt break down and I do not get pulled into any scales so "your team" must be talking junk

 

butler is pretty decent so far-good miles-back up their trips with another before or as you empty.have run from mass to southern tX so far.people are nice,shop is good.have run the 70,80,40.Have electronic logs which are totally the best as you can split log really easy.Only been with them a month and a half but better than any company have dealt with in many years.

 

What most people do not understand in the per diem is that yes .23 is taxed and .09 is not. But when you add .23 to the .09 you get .32. YOU STILL MAKE .32 CENTS PER MILE. You are only being taxed on .23. This in turn means that on a weekly basis you put more money in your pocket because less is taxed, wow you would think that would be the greatest thing ever, the government getting less of you money. Yes I am an employee for Butler and would love to explain the benefits, plus the down sides of per diem to you, yes i will admit there are down sides to it, isn't there to pretty much everything. how many days do you have to work to get a day off, do you run mostly west or east, do you get payed practicle or rand-mcnally miles, and what are the trucks governed at?

 

if you read it quick it almost sounds like a low paying job----at 32 cents per mile
but when you consider that they are only paying you 23cpm, and the other 9 is actually money you would be getting back at end of the year at tax time---read it slow--and it is a very very low paying job----yes less is taxed ,because they are only paying you 23cpm--the rest is just an advance on your per diem

 

Ace you are the Man, I have been driving for 27 years and have owned and operated my own trucks not as many as you fine folks but a few, I for one am starting to think these young drivers have no common sense at all, not all but a few to say the least, I know first hand you folks at Butler run a top notch operation, I have worked for roadway and some of the biggest companys out there and you guys are first class all the way,and only hire Drivers who in return meet the grade, I Just contacted you folks and will be on a flight this tuesday or weds to join force's. hope to meet ya then Ace.
