Thanks for all the replys. Sorry I havent replyed back but I`m just now getting back online. I am staying in a school appartment and I finally got a internet link on my computer. Hope it stays long enough to post this. The school director is really nice and took my blood pressure again today at school and it was still high. I guess I do have a blood pressure problem. She told me I can go ahead and get prehired and just wait before I go to orientation to see my Doctor to get this fixed. I just hope it dont take long as setting at home not making money is a problem. School is going well and we have had recruters out the ### to the point its funny how they feed you lunch and then feed you crap. We did have one today that seemed good "PTL". They seem to have their stuff together and a good newbie package. We have CFI coming next monday so I`m looking forward to hearing what they have to say. I`ve read much good on this site about them. Thanks again for your help on my BP problem.
So if my Doctor...uhhh...sniff...I guess I`ll get me one of those to...puts me on "the pill", how long does it take tell a difference?

Did DOT recently change their blood pressure requirement? I thought 160/95 was the cutoff, now I'm hearing 145/90. Anybody know for sure?

It should'nt hurt your chances too much. High B.P. is pretty common in this industry, trust me. (the others gave GOOD info) Circumstances will also contribute. My company had me on a load into Ontario, Ca. The delivery time had me going through morning L.A. rush hour, and they gave me info on a doc to get mine done on the road.... After I finished laughing, I explained to my dispatcher that the reading a trucker'd get after fighting L.A. would likely have em calling for an ambulance. Just something to keep in mind...

I had a Stress Test yesterday...or should I say, tried to get one. I went to have it done, and my BP was 164/120...yikes. They could not even take the test because it was to high. It went down a little after I laid down, but not enough for the test. I just started taking BP pills this week, so the doctor said it will take awhile, and he will see me again on Monday. I hope it comes down, or I might not become a trucker.:biggrin_25513:

It's also one of those ironic vicious circles too, that worrying about one's B.P. test will CAUSE high readings. Fate's cruel sometimes for sure. Last time I went in for my regular 2year check: Was on my way for hometime after 2 months straight on the road. The gal @ the DR's office takin readings that day just happened to be drop dead gorgeous.... Her comment "Wow, your pulse rate and pressure are kinda high.." The doctor got a kick when I explained WHO took the reading, and that I'd been on the road for 8weeks...
