I use a Cannon , CanoScan LIDE 100 usb scanner with no problems

I've been thinking of that too since the company I run for we do percentage and the sooner I can get POD the sooner they can bill and I get paid. That and not being in the office for long stints it makes their paperwork load a lot easier.
I have been thinking of a laserjet style fax/copier/scanner/printer. I wouldn't use the fax but the copier and scanner would come in very handy. I just am a little concerned as to the ruggedness of the units. -
I wonder about laser printer with all the vibration that the toner does not compact into a big junk of wax....

The problem with a laser printer is the power requirements if you don't have a reasonably sized inverter - they can draw ~400+ W when printing.

For printing I would just get the cheapest single-function laser you can find and it would probably do the trick. As long as you don't unnecessarily abuse it I'm sure it would be durable enough. You can scrounge one up from any of the major brands for $100-150.
Of course this assumes you'll only be scanning things that you can feed single-sheet style. If you need a flatbed scanner then you'll have to get an multifunction like you're already thinking and those are going to take up a significant amount of room. -
I have a HP I picked up from Walmart for 70 bucks. Works great. Printer, scanner and copier. Used it with my lap top or as a stand alone. Its the "HP Deskjet F4500" I've had it in the truck for over two months and no issues. Keep it unplugged unless I want to use it.

That's similar to the one I got. I didn't get the flashdrive and mine is WIFI capable. Didn't see if that one is or not.Landincoldfire Thanks this. -
I use a Canon MP240 printer/scanner. I just replaced the Black cartridge, I think it was around $18 for the large size. When that runs out and the color runs out, I'll throw it out and buy whatever is on sale at Staples/Best Buy, since for $50-60 it's cheaper than replacing the ink. I scan the BOL's in and email them right into the office. Same for Canada Customs docs to the broker - makes life really easy.

Any trouble with ink cartridges freezing up if the truck is parked in below freezing temperatures over the weekend?
bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
I use the hp printer/ scanner, copier, hp 4400. The paper feeds from the front so the front cover folds up, makes it easier to fit in the cabinet. I've had it a year now and no problems
