    Yeah am calling those guys tomorrow as well, have to deliver in Chicago anyway. I was looking at the Cobra 29 WX NW BT. Never had one before either, but will see what those guys recommend.

    I'm running a Uniden 538 XLW mated to a Palomar 250, with the correct length of RG8 coax. I can normally send/recieve 5x5 up to 50 miles.

    My wife and I both run local and she likes her galexey 33 and I have been using a connex 3300hp for years and they work really well for what we do which is logging. Alot of times we have to talk for several miles to make sure the one lane roads we have to use getting in and out of the woods are clear. As far as anntenas go we both use K40 they are very durrabale and are not easy to break.

    After driving for 3.5 years without either a bluetooth or radio, I finally have picked up both within the last 3 months or so. I was told I couldn't go wrong with a Cobra 29 and as it happened, my father in law had an older one he's not using. Thats been working just fine for me after marrying it to a Wilson 2000 anntena. As for bluetooth, I went with a Blueparrott B250-XT headset. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.

    I owned a Cobra 29 nw wx st and for 10 years it operated great. I bought the 29 Bluetooth wx nw st (backlit blue, which is the only reason I bought it), and it is hard to hear the incoming caller even at full volume. perhaps a seperate speaker would fix this, though I have no intentions of finding out. I only tried the bluetooth function out of curiousity. Hard to go wrong with a 29 though, no matter the model. good luck

    From the K40 website;
    What length of Coax should I use?
    The recommended length for coax is 18 feet. If you cannot use 18 feet, you can use a minimum of 9 feet with increments of 3 feet (example: 9, 12, 15, 18). Please be extremely careful of what you do with your excess cable. If you need to wrap it, let it hang loose and carefully wrap it in a 12 to 16 inch circle (elbow to hand roll), wire tire it in the center, and put it out of sight under your seat or dash. Failure to do so could result in a RF choke.

    ~Not that I've had drastic problems outside of this idiom, but this formula hasn't failed me yet either

    HUMMM KEMO SOBBIE ......

    Coax should not effect your antenna unless it is reactive and not a good 50 ohm match ....
