Question for Logs-r-us

    I just received a notice from our office (new manager) stating that we drivers no longer need to do recap totals on our daily logs. I've always recapped because I thought it was required. Am I ignorant? What gives? Can you please shed some light on this subject? Thanx

    Doing the re-cap is NOT "required" by DOT. I myself make drivers do a recap on their log sheet so I know they are keeping track of their HOS. Unfortuantely if a driver is over the officer can see it clearly, but if the driver writes why he will usually be ok, NOT ALWAYS.

    But no you don't have to do a re-cap, I am sure if you continue the company will not write you up (if they did I would not work there, just wouldn't be fair to write you up for doing it).

    I used to think it was required until 10-2003 when we asked how is drivers supposed to zero out their recap with a restart now. They said we really don't care because it is not required so however they figure it out themselves :biggrin_255:
