    Sorry about the T7E model.

The external SD Ports are reserved for future uses and yes they show up as external drives on a Laptop.

The internal drives can be viewed also on a laptop.

    Thanks,
    mark

Mark, first of all I'd like to thank you and rand for having such great service after the sale. This forum was a huge factor for why I choose rand as my truck gps. I have had my 500 for over a month now, and have been mostly pleased with it.

I just have a couple of small things that maybe you could have rand look at:

    1) Baltimore MD has had on going construction for quite some time now. However they made some major interchange changes over a year ago that were not corrected with the latest maps. Traveling on 95 south you now stay left to continue on 95, and stay right to merge onto 895. Rand is showing the opposite (old way).

    2) They also eliminated most left exits to get onto 695 (baltimore beltway), from 95. Now anytime you merge onto or off of 695 it is a right exit. The only exception is while traveling on 95 south, south of the tunnel you still use a left exit for 695 East/ Glen Burnie.

    3) While traveling from Fallston MD, to Phoenix MD, Rand keeps wanting me to take a short cut down Hess Rd. Hess Rd is a back road with alot of curves and a weight restricted bridge. I'm not sure of the exact weight but I know its under 33,000lbs. I'm suprised rand wants to take me that way in the first place since it looks for state routes. The quick fix to it is to simply stay on Rt 152 until it ends, then turn left onto Rt 146. It is only about 3 more miles to go that way, and is much more Truck Friendly.

My thanks to rand and yourself for your continued efforts to make our purchase a better product.

    Hi Mark,

First I wanted to say thanks for the Flash SD Card that you sent me a good while back when my 700 was constantly telling me that it was missing a system file while booting. If it were not for that SD Card this past week while out on the road in the tanker with haz mat, I may have found my self in a few tight spots, esecially while in the Chicago area.

Yhe las time I did an update was about 3 weeks ago just before heading out on my monthly tour. Everything was working like a champ each and every day. At the end of my day, I would power down the unit & turn off the truck until the next day. Each day began the same way. Fired up the truck, turned on the radio, the 700 and began my pre-trip while everything was warming up. All was fine until 3 days ago.

I arrived in statesville, NC and pulled into the Hess rest stop there in troutman (exit 42) for the night, shut everything down. Got up the next morning, & when I cam back into the truck the 700 was giving me the Screen of death; "System File Missing". So I tried to reboot it thinking it was just a hick up. NOPE, Again 2 more times. So, having the SD card with me (Thank Gaod) I popped it in & rebooted. About an hr later, it was back to the Original out of box condition, Without all the up dates of course.

I was able to make my way to the customer that morning & went onto the next in Chicago. Again, the following morning, The Death Screen Again. Grrr. I repeated the process again, & it was fine while bringing me back to the Hickory NC Area.

I got home and imeediately began all of the updates. regardless of what updates there were, I had it do it. Including the maps. About 3 hrs worth.

Anyway, 2 questions: Is there an easier way to restore my 700 while out on the truck without having access to the internet? I have backed up all of my files that the software states that it does (Back up entire TND 700). I'd like to be able to restore it completely to the way it was before the crash, this way I will still have alll of the updated Maps etc. If so, how is it done?

2nd. Any Idea as to why, after the unit working just fine for several weeks, never being updated or connected to the internet, sitting in its cradle on the windshield, after being powered down and resting for 13 hrs, when being restarted, It comes up with "Missing system File" error? This I just do not understand.

Oh yeah, here is an update for you to have them put into one of the upcomming updates: In Penn. In & Around the Pittsburg Area, HWY 60 is now I-376. The TND 700 states that it's Hwy 60 and makes it extreamly confusing when getting around the Airport area where there is also a Business - I-376 that loops around the Airport. Also, around that area near the Airport, I -376, I-79, I-76, all are having major construction done, many of which, are down to either One lane, (especially near the University Blvd area).

Actually, I take that back. While there was no apparent time issue, it did say I was entering EDT when I was actually entering CDT. As long as it corrects itself I can deal with it for now. I would, obviously, like to eventually see this fixed permanently. Thanks.

While everyone is on the topic of updated roads, I might as well add my 2 cents.
The new section of US15 in northern PA to the NY line has not been updated in the maps. It has been open for about a year now.
Also, the new section of US24 on both sides of the OH/IN border has not been updated. Been open for about a year as well.
Very unnerving to see the little truck icon moving in space ...

I just replaced the power cord, and yes that's what it was. But I noticed before replacement I went to turn on the unit and it flickered very violently for about 10 seconds. Full black to a bright grey back and forth many times. Might be the power cord I thought.

Then eventually it did boot properly, but said something about fatal error hermes2.exe and I think it shut off at that point.

But it's been fine ever since.

That file is in NaviVoices folder. If you keep getting Hermes2 errors contact me.

    Thanks,
