Had a 0830 drop in Terrell TX at the WallyWorld DC this morning. All went well. Got a phone call from Billy as I was hooking up my trailer to leave. "got a load going to Louisiana that needs to repower. He'll be in Terrell in three hours. Can you help?"
    "How far?"
    "Just a couple hundred miles."
    I figure, why not?
Well five hours later he turns up. Read the paper work...Roberts, LA...434 miles.
You'd think I'd have learned by now to ask more questions first.
Oh well. Leaving here at 1930, after my 8 hour break, then push for an 0330 arrival. It will be close.
Guess that's why they call me the 'just in time kid'.
Figure I'll make it to Hammand for my 10 tomorrow.
Tlea...that should be about your stopping point?

Christoff, It's probably better to stay in Houston. That way you avoid the extra expense of the hotel, that gets tacked on to your school loan. Good luck and keep the dirty side down.:biggrin_25525:

    christoff Thanks this.

I picked up my 2 prehire letters from the school yesterday and went to the unemployment office yesterday and now it's another meeting tomorrow. If the state is going to pay for the training it will more then likely be 6-8 weeks is what they said. I'll know more after tomorrow's meetings.
Any of you ever visit this site?

Seems like some good tips there.
I'm also wondering how much storage space do you have when in training? Do you take a suitcase or would a camping back pack be better or what would you all suggest as a good way to take your stuff. How are you all handling that?

Generally speaking, you can take as much as you want. Just remember, you will be sharing your cot size bunk with your luggage :biggrin_25525:
Seriously, look at the list the school supplies, and cut it in half.

Emusified, would have loved to stop and shoot the breeze with ya in Hammond, but I blew by there at 6am this morning. Load has to be in Laredo Wed morning, so here I am tonight in Ganada TX... 224 miles from JO, and then over to DHL to drop....now that is one tight cluster....Then get a load to Dallas, so that I can drop in and say hi to everyone after 3+ months.

Johnny, what storage space...Best to pack one Duffel bag and a bed roll (a pillow and a sleeping bag). what ever you bring will be sharing the top bunk with you. And the top bunk is cot sized, not even a full twin.

That's what I was thinking especially after taking that virtual 360 tour again of the interior of the T2000 on the Stevens web site. I was hoping there was something I wasn't seeing. I think I'm going to take a look at some back packs at the sports/ camping stores and see what is available. I'm thinking that if they have some compartments and the such that it might be easier to keep things in order and move around. Not to mention carry.

I don't work for Stevens anymore, I just continue to lurk and see whats going on.
I went to the school in March did my phase I training, but hurt my knee. I then worked light duty on the yard for almost 6 months.
I left the company because I needed to come and take care of my elderly father. Sometimes process with Stevens can be slow and frustrating, but I have almost no complaints on how they treated me while I was there. In fact if I was in the position that I could be OTR again I would go back with them.
The only complaint I have is that even with my circumstances with my father, I am now being hounded by the collection agency for my school tuition. I understand they want their money and I intend to pay them, but for god sakes give me a moment to get established and I will get to you.

Well I think I found a 15 pocket duffel that I might pick up from Sports Authority that might make things a little more convient.

I've decided to pay for school on my own after the meeting with WIA today. They had more things/forms to complete and then summit on the 11/5 and then if approved it can take 60-90 days for a voucher. There were 3 other guys there for the same thing as me. Looking to start school on the 1st. I put my 2003 Sportster on consignment today in hopes of it selling as it would almost pay for school.
