There is not a single business book that teaches to include personal expenses in a business profit/loss calculation. Shoot...I think I'll buy a new BMW...oops, better increase my rates now. Oh wifey wants a vacation to Hawaii...better jack those rates again.
If you find your lifestyle is more than your income than you either have to reduce personal expenses, increase rates (good luck with that one), or go find another profession that will support your lifestyle. Wait, there is one "business" that does this...the US Government where the only direction seems to be to increase taxes (rates) to finance ever more spending cause to decrease spending is just plain crazy talk -

I to am looking at getting on with L/S! Now all this cost per mile thingy is Spanish to me, there fore I am just a big Dummy. But If I am not mistaken, there is a bunch of Disgruntled BCO's and Drivers here that think that Land Star is not a worthy company! I live on the west coast and I see a bunch of L/S vans out this way. what can someone tell me about that division!

on the escrow
i could easily make the case that even with paid off equipment you should escrow something - maybe not the same amount as the payment, but something for the ownership to pay it forward for replacing equipment or major overhauls
