    Higgie, you need to get paid extra for being WEL's on-line PR man. Seriously I appreciate reading posts from a driver who knows how to drive (for whichever company) and drives. I'm also impressed with your ability to type and spell in ENGLISH !! I'm doing a refresher course now to qualify for WEL. I'm hoping to start orientation Nov. 1st. As for questions about pay, per diem, regional runs, etc. I'll ask the recruiter. Thanks for telling us WEL is people, not machines

    I filled an application out and I called 3 days later and spoke with a recruiter and I was told that I am not in thier hiring area which is 60 miles. I live 123 miles away and I mentioned that I would leave the truck at the terminal on home time. I don't understand why only 60 miles? Any help would be appreciated as there isn't a lot of choices in south Florida with my amount of experiance and not being recent otr.

    What engines and trannys does WEL run?

    What is the story with elog switching? I run elogs now and am trying to get away from them to increase my flexibility (though I will have to LEARN paper logs!)

    OK, I've been here a short while now. I've got some good to say but some un-happy too.

    The good:
    They are on the ball if you have a problem. They will get you help or direct to the help as needed. I believe they are a good solid company to work for.

    Now my un-happy:
    I hired on as OTR. My first 1.5 weeks were spent as that. I started out going South then West and then north. It seemed to fall apart after that. I have been doing what I think are regional pedal runs. ( 500 to 600 mile) just different regions. I sat for 48 hrs. in The Ga. Yard to get a run that went 522 miles over 4 days. I've also had runs of 980 miles. Pretty good 'cept it was a 5 day delivery time. I sat 15 miles from the delivery, 30 miles from the yard for 40 hours. They couldn't get me a different delivery time.
    I'm going through all the proper channels to get on the track I should be on. My best week was my first with 2200 miles. Most the others have been in the 1500 mile range. Not what I leave home and stay gone for ( in my 4th week away now)
    I spoke with the driver retention officer and he looked at things and agreed and said it would change. We will see.

    As I said they are a good company. I believe part of the problem are the E-Logs and trying to get the planners and DM's all on the same page.I'm sure it will all come together in the long run.

    I've spoken to some happy drivers but some un-happy ones too. (as in all companies)

    I believe that they run KW some Freightliners and some Prostars,but it doesnt really matter as long as you are driving and I believe they are e-logs. Try calling a recruiter if more info needed. Also when you speak to a recruiter as how many miles from a terminal thier hiring range is as I found out from Winter Haven Florida is only 60 miles and I live 120 miles away and they wouldnt even consider it even if I left the truck there for home time.I was told that they wanted to be able to get me home:biggrin_25510: and I told them its only a 2 1/2 hour drive home.

    Just arrived in Greenbay. Start orientation tomorrow. A friend called yesterday & said he had a conversation with a WEL driver (at truck stop). He said he really liked driving for WEL, they're a good company. I'll post more as the week progresses. Everybody stay safe out there.
