That is really neat-you ham guys have all the fun! I can see where this would even be handy on cb though, like for guys that slip-seat a lot.

Well, I bought the battery and Low and behold.... People can now hear me....
I went and did some more fine tuning and had some more time to play around and seems like everything is good now. Still need to figure out whether I want it in the overhead compartment or mounted on dash, the power wires running right out of the overhead compartment straight down to the dashboard "screw ins" really bothers me. Also the internal speaker is blocked up there too and I have some problems with my hearing......

Sitting in the truckstop I get excellent reception with very little static/distortion....Except when Ive got things plugged into the cigarette lighter/power outlets.... Kinda pisses me off, Id like to listen to the radio while Im on here reading the forums... but the interference DRIVES ME GOOFY!

And I must get some engine distortion as well while driving or truck idling.... That distortion+plus engine noise/highway noise+plus speaker aimed directly into overhead compartment+my own slight hearing problems===== Kinda a frustrating experience!!
Wondering if purchasing external speaker is worth it/will make any difference

Crazeyeyes, my radio picks up my tractor's wipers. Can't stand it. The way I get around it is to turn down the gain some. Also, if your antenna warning is still coming on, you have a problem with your antenna and really need to clear this up.
