No comment. All you newbies out there....if I were you I would just follow your instincts. You should know what's right and what's wrong. Enough said.

I don´t think any of the big companies at least will make you run illegal.
No, it´s not generally expected that you should falsify your log books.
What´s going to happen though is after you get out there, get feeling real comfortable driving a truck and being a truck driver, you´ll want to drive illegal, at least a little.
Can you drive 12 hours? Fourteen? I bet you can, especially if you´re young, well rested, without any problem.
I once ran 16 hours straight just stop for fuel. Someone mentioned Qualcomm. We had Qualcomm. No one said anything to me. Now, safety, I have always stayed in my physical limits. I have never drove overly fatigued or was unsafe on the road.
I know guys that have come off their home time unrested, jumped in their truck and drove their 11 hours. Completely exhausted at the end of it. Much more exhausted than I´ve ever been driving a truck. -
Repo Thanks this.

About qualcomm. Just because no one catches anything this time doesn't mean it just disappears. It's there in the system. If they do an audit they will most likely catch it. Bottom line, do what you gotta do to run safe and legal. I don't think there is one driver that hasn't faniggled something before. But since we are talking with newbies on here, it only makes sense to teach them to be safe and legal.

I've fallen into the trap of falsifying logs just because I could. I'd run team loads or run all night then all day because I was still awake... in the end, I don't know if the added stress from paranoia and the possible consequences were really worth it. Probably not.

To make matters worse, the feds are probably going to pass legislation that requires all commercial vehicles to be equipped with black boxes, the kind that's used in planes to record your every move. Hopefully my other business will take off by then and I'll tell my company it's been nice knowing you.
