i would be broke and workin at wal-mart if i logged by the book with the new log book rules it sucks to have to be that way but as an owner op you do what you have to do..but safe always safe

You've got a lot to learn. Don't be so judgmental before you actually experience it. I'm purely going by your status as a driver, which you've listed as "student". If you run 100% legal and make a fine living doing so, more power to you, but real world situations will always override practical use. That traffic jam in Downtown Chicago that took you 3 hours to get through...will you be logging it as such or will you save those 3 hours to run elsewhere? It's your paycheck after all. The company will make its money regardless of whether you have the hours to run your next load or not. I've been repowered once in my 3 years for being out of hours, meanwhile I've repowered countless guys who ran out of hours. It's ultimately your call, but I'm spending way too much time out here as it is to lose any pay.
As for Qualcomm, it can be manipulated like anything else. Just like everything, it's all about moderation.Last edited: Oct 21, 2010

Remember the days of loading in Los Angelos on Friday and delivering Monday in Atlanta....I cant remember how many times i did I-10 across Texas only stopping for fuel and coffee...oh btw that was a solo run not a team load either...then load tues morn in Atl and deliver back in LA that friday...was not an uncommon thing...thats when we would use 2 or three comic books....for you newbies that would be LOG books..lolBoardhauler Thanks this. -
The thing about cheating on your logs and thinking you won't get caught is, what happens when you do? And I don't mean a simple ticket or fine. What happens if you get in a wreck and someone gets killed. Now, even if the wreck was not your fault, they are going to put you under the microscope. They are going to examine your logs and all of a sudden your credibility has gone right out the window. Is it worth the risk? Maybe and maybe not. It's really up to the individual if they want to take the chance.
I don't plan on cheating on my logs ever. That being said, I never planned on "stealing" music, but you can bet your butt I have downloaded my share of songs. It never seems like a big deal until the feds are knocking on your door. Be safe out there. -

Not disputing that at all...and its a very smart way of thinking...it just so happens if you do operate that way you should bring many and I mean many dvd's books. and other items to fill in all the sitting time your going to be doing in the truckstop parking lot...and after you stand your ground and turn down enough loads you'll be let go for the driver who will run it and then be DAC'd as someone who refuses to run...I do wish you the best and I really hope it works out for you.... -
Well, I can tell you that I fudged my logs as needed. And I was very careful if I did. In this biz, you need every advantage you can get. But, I'm here to tell you straight up,(newbies) if you think you can run legal and log legal, you'll soon find out it ain't so. You don't have to be blatant if you cheat, but you need to KNOW how to make "adjustments" in your favor.

I log legal but not the way it actually happened. You will learn your tethers like fuel stops and weigh stations. Then you will learn how to write fiction. Unless you have a qualcomm. I had a qualcomm while I was with Werner. After two months of training (200 hours of driving) I left them. I bought my own truck and run 48 with no qualcomm. I seldom run more than 11 but my farthest day was 818 miles. It wasn't logged that way. I also won't allow prepass in my truck. Prepass records your location everytime you pass a weigh station whether it's open or closed.
