    Hi Guys,

Received my cdl yesterday and decided to go with Con-Way. Seems like the best choice for a student driver. I am set to start orientation is Joplin November 1. Does anyone recommend a cheap flight or route to best take from South. California? Any advice for packing or what I should look forward to?

    Thank you guys in advance.

Good luck on your career at Con-Way. Keep us informed on how your training goes and how your first few months are. I'm excited to see someone go to Con-Way as a newbie. Hopefully everything is true about them and you will love it.:biggrin_25525:

You can type in cheap flight on your computer and they will pull up a whole bunch. Then you can compare to see the cheapest price. You need to do your research on this.2 yrs ago I flight out of Ontario,ca and it is less then $200. Of course thing may change. Once you in Joplin, Mo then you will call the taxi(Con-Way tl provide that number to you) and they will take you to either Hotel or to Con-way Headquater. Have fun at the orientation.

Not sure about all that driver..lol.. If you have a high threshold for BS it isn't that bad but let's all calm down.. You now work for a money numbers driven CNWY company..

Con-Way is a decent place to get some training and a couple years experience. I really think they'd rather take on new drivers so they can train them their way and not worry about having to break any habits you have they don't like. After that, you can decide whether or not its for you. If you do decide to move on, do it before you get very far up the pay scale so that starting over won't be as painful. I have found Estes, my current employer, to be a much better company to work for. Problem is they really want drivers with previous experience.

I should have been a-little more specific.... In best choice of life I was insinuating more the escaping of the bad choices! Swift, Prime, KLLlM ... etc.! After being employed by one of the above mentioned I can personally attest to the fact it:biggrin_2558: is one of the better trucking companies!

It didn't occur to me in my first post, but the op must be talking about Truckload. Correct me here if I'm wrong. That may be a different ballgame altogether than Freight.
