I will give him the name of my company if he will reply. Then he can give them a ticket. And if he has more time I can give him more trucking companies and he can give them tickets, But he won't reply.I've went right down to the state hiway patrol with a stack of time stamped papers. And no reply

"it goes back ( i think) to the o/p "why not ticket the companies, dispatchers"....?? plain and simple, they are NOT driving the trucks.
it doesn't get any simpler than that."
They are not driving the truck, they OWN the truck.
The driver refuses to drive the truck, gets fired or quits. The carrier will just get a driver who will drive the truck with a bald tire.
Sooo there is still a truck out there running with a bald tire. But if the carrier knows there was a big fine coming for that bald tire, it's very likely the tire would have been replaced to begin with.
-
Why not flatten it, since it legally belongs off the road anyway, and say, "ooops, looks like it gave out" and forced a replacement?...Wouldn't they have got a new one too you ASAP without you having to refuse to run on it?...Instead of risky your life and others on the road?...
-
And you know what is really annoying. The recruiter never says we want you to drive on bad tires and fudge your books. And besides everytime I ask diesel bear if he wants names of companies that run like this he doesn't reply. Just like the several times I've called trucking enforcement authorities.

lol good answer! *cough 'cordless drill' cough*

Ok, think about this
A driver note's a bald tire on his post trip.
Currently, maybe it gets fixed, maybe not.
The point I'm trying to make, The carrier knows that if that bald tire is found during a dot inspection it's a automatic $5000.00 fine to the company. The tire is replaced. Most likely the tire would not have gotten to that point at all before being replaced. -
Funny you say that. about 15 years ago I was driving this rock truck that had a pitted windshield from sand or rock trucks going the opposite way on a highway. Anyway every morning when I was heading east especially when there was a little fog it was very difficult to see out of the windshield. So I asked my boss if he would replace it. He said NO!!. A couple of days later a lug nut flew of a oncoming truck a smashed right into the driver's side windshield.Scared the S##* out of me' but shattered the windshield. I showed him the windshield when I got back to the yard, And he thought I hit it with a hammer.

Companies that push the regulations past the limits are going to cater to the drivers that will, and get rid of the drivers that won't. They will always fall back on we never told him to do that he did it on his own! There is always another driver they can hire who will do it. How about this one Diesel bear ?
A friend of mine worked for a small company in eastern PA until last week. The company always, always had him work his log ,and he would average 5-6 hours off instead of his full break, because they needed him they claimed. Truth is if they were not jackwagons ,and treated their drivers better they could hire enough ,and not have to kill the ones they had.
This is how they took care of his ######## about having to fudge his book. Sent him for a random drug test on a friday. He reported to the medical center, and was told that it would be at least an hour until they could get to him after he checked in. He advised the receptionist that he was going to his car to get his cell phone so he could let the company know.
He came back in the waiting room and was told a half hour later he could not be tested ,because he left the facility. He was told it is considered a refusal to test, and a positive drug test, and could not drive.
He went back to the company, and they sent him back the next day to test again which he did. They then told the testing facility that he was there without their permission, and not to send the urine samples in for testing. This is not true ,because you need a permission slip signed by company management to test at the facility.
I understand that you can't leave the facility until testing is completed for a random drug test after you check in . This was a setup. He went out to his vehicle, and they were aware of it. Can't drive until he clears his name. Can't collect unemployment. He paid for his own drug testing at another testing facility on that Saturday so he could prove he is clean. They sure taught him to buck their system didn't they! I am sure his lawyer is going to have a field day with when do you leave the facility. When you walk out the door,or when you leave ,and cross their property line. I can't wait to see if going to your vehicle ,and getting something, and coming back in is leaving the facility!Last edited: Oct 22, 2010
