Well I finished up my final week at C&C yesterday. I will start orientation at Keen on Monday, but I will actually start working for them again on Sunday. They called me Monday and asked if I would go by the terminal in Skyland (Asheville) NC and pick up two trucks that need to be carried back to Carlisle, Pa instead of renting a car. So of course I said yes, so they will pay me .48 to drive back up there Sunday. Just to show what type of company Keen is, they are paying my wife $100.00 dollars to drive me from just South of Charlotte to the yard and then of course her return trip home. But I digress..... this is still a C&C thread so let me give my final thoughts on my time at C&C.

I worked here for just a short 7.5 months, and I would have to say my over all opinion of the company is good. I always got good miles, my average while here was about 3125 per week. I guess with the state of the economy one can't complain to much about averaging over 3000+ miles a week. The people in the office were all driver friendly. and easy to get along with. My dispatcher (Jay) and I had a great relationship, and he always was a straight shooter. Now remember C&C is now fully owned by USXpress, and from what I have seen over the last few months, USXpress is keeping a hands off approach, and letting C&C stand on its own, and still be run like a seperate entity.

I guess my only negative thing I have to say is the maintanence on the trucks could be better. The shop in duncan isn't feeled with the brightest bunch of wrench turners I have ever come across, and when a service is due on the trucks, it has to be done in Duncan, which usually takes 1 to 2 days to be completed. I think it would be a heck of alot more effieient to have a simple PM service done at a Petro or T/A, but hey im just a truck driver. In closing I guess I would have to say that if a driver came to me and asked about applying at C&C, I would have to say, they are fair company, with good miles and they will get you home just about every weekend.

When I get back over to Keen, and get settled in I will start a new thread and give regular updates on my progress. Be safe and keep the dirty side down.

I've been searching for a good company in Spartanburg area for while and one day i saw a C&C sign, drove by, took a look at the trucks they had., talked to couple of drivers and don't know why but i got this feeling that this could be something I've looking for.SO i started to do research on C&C and found this forum, did't expect to find anything but i did. have read this post from A to Z and thought to myself I'll give it a shot.Filled out an application on Friday, turned it in and by Monday next week was attending orientation. Everything went very well.On Wednesday got pretty nice Freightliner( I'll have them fix some minor things but overall it was nice) and next morning was on my way to upstate NY. Was weird to drive auto shift but i guess I'll get use to it.I still prefer 13 speed.
Came back home today due to lack of hours(spend a lot of 'em for orientation) and very pleased with my trip.Dispatches are very nice and understanding. The sign on the back of C&C trailers don't lie. Very friendly and family atmosphere. The huge plus of a relatively small company. Pay could better but you can't beat the miles. So far so good.
Thanx runningman0661 for taking time to post, Helped me a lot . now i am one happy C&C driver.Hope if something will change due to merging with US X only for better.

    stay safe out there.

vik78s glad i could help. C&C isn't a bad company at all....like I said in previous posts the equipment could be a little better maintained, but I was always able to get all the miles I wanted, and got home every week. Best of luck to you, and keep posting and let us know how things are going for you. Who is your Fleet manager?

Mary is my DM...Don't know her very well yet but she seems to be nice. And if there is a problem she is able to handle it professionally.
Runningman, you 've been with C&C for a while. Can you tell me some DO's and DON'S....

My stereo didnt work at all and i mentioned this to them. Was very surprised to see them installed brand new DELPHI MP3 player with AUX jack, instead of stupid Freightliner stock stereo............Just felt like sharing.

Well vik78s just watch your logs for the first couple of months, because safety will run an audit against your qualcom in the first month or so to see if your running legal. If that matches within a reasonable rate he will pretty much leave you alone.
I had Jay as my dispatcher and we had a pretty solid relationship. Mary is nice, and once she ses how you like to run, she will give you all the miles you want. Well be safe and good luck.

they always do.I don't work for 'em anymore.I thought 2800miles per week would compensate for 34 cents per mile but my miles dropped right after 2.5 month (I was told about this but couldn't believe). i couldn't get used to automatic tranny and weak engines. and i couldn't afford to be away from home for $450-500 per week.Other than that it's pretty good place.
