What is your preference Streamlight or Maglight, I perfer the Streamlight Stinger LED, it's compact and bright enough to blind you.

Ok, I'll make it easy for you...:biggrin_25525: http://macscustoms.com/MagLiteDropIn.aspx

Add this($95) to your well worn out maglite and you'll have low, med, and high settings. 800 lumens on high will blind a stream light user. There are hundreds of custom and on the shelf lights that are decent. For the price and using a tried and true maglite design, You'll be hard pressed to beat this bulletproof setup.

Another less expensive option($25) that works very well too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120637462744

by the time you invest your hard earn money to upgrade your maglite, your better of buying a STREAMLIGHT STINGER LED with the rechargeable Nic battery, charger and all. Maglite says to get the full power for the upgrade you still need to purchase the Nic battery and of course you need to purchase the charger. Better of buying a STREAMLIGHT STINGER LED FROM eBAY.

but, can you use it like a weapon like a maglite?:biggrin_25523: and if it costs too much are you going to think twice about bouncing it off someone's head?:biggrin_25522:

I agree Diesel Dave that the Streamlight stinger led is a much better package than the typical maglite. With the upgrade head plus the cost of a 2D maglite, you'll be 4 times as bright for less money. Run times are excellent with standard D akalines as well. D cells are cheap for having spares without ever having to worry about recharging while out on the road or while in the middle of actually using it. The Streamlight stinger led is max 200 lumens. Bright, yes. The Mac Maglite drop-in on 2D batteries is 800 lumens on high! I'm a bit of a flashlight geek, I confess.:biggrin_25526: If you want me to link some really impressive small (fit in your front pocket 700 lumens) type of light, let me know...

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

I got a rechargeable Streamlight when I was hauling cars,....It seemed like I was almost always looking for cars at the auction and loading in dark, And I got sick of having to buy batteries,...

Outside of excessive use I see no reason to spend the money on the Streamlight unless you want one,.......It is the nicest flashlight I have ever had,...

I use a 2 D cell LED maglite. It's bright as hell, durable as you could ask for, and only needs new batteries ever 4-6 hours of use. I work nights delivering gas and use it constantly. Only needs batteries once a week.
