it's not impossible, but probably quite annoying for you and dispatch.

Well i log it as it happens now,i always been company , but i needed a few bucks so i drove for this o/o for a few weeks and lernt alot more from him , then any school could,, i was doing my logs as they showed me in class, legal and running, he looks at my log books , threw back at me and said do em over, i said huh
there all legal
nope, this what im gonna show you my way , but like everybody i start my logs when i got up, nope not according to him, only do that if driving the road , but if your at the dock, no, he told me, i asked what he means, this what he told me, he said start your day when they bump your trl with the forklift , but if going down the road then yes start anytime,i lernt alot from him,he shaved off 14 hours and that was alot, wow
,as i being old school myself, but i know them days are over too , so i been studying e logs for awhile now,i was getting tired of dispacth giving me loads i couldnt run, mayby this will stop this, mayby not, like any machine that man makes, there always be a backdoor for the hacker too get in and make softwear for lap top for the e -logs so you bump -move or make hours
if need be , i see it coming , sure as im sitting here when there be no more standard shifts in company trucks
Everett.p.s. i'm curous as how you would log for a chicago 6 hrs sitting on the freeway moving at 1 mph .

2700 x 1.50 per mile if you are lucky= 4050
2700/ 6 450 gallons of fuel at 3.10 a gallon = 1395-4050=2655
20 per day foodx4 80 =2575 -350 per week truck payment=2250
insurance at 100 per week = 2150 - 300 misc exp=1925 then pay yourself 20 cpm to take home 1925 -540= 1385 then take 1000$ deductible off that
your truck made $385 plus it took you 5 days to run it so it cost you an extra 1500 in the end..
that is why they say it is impossible to make a living now if we got paid for everything we did they would be utterly wrong but until we start getting paid for sitting at a dock from minute 1 it will be the way it be.Everett, Raiderfanatic and Milk_n_Cookies Thank this. -
You can edit all of Qualcomm except driving.......If the truck moves...and your logged in, you're driving. If you log out and move the Q.C. tracks the trucks movement.
Only way to beat Q.C. is unhook antenna....but then....no log. What do you show the bear?Everett Thanks this. -

You are correct people should obey the HoS rules. they are not laws.. they were not passed by congress but by a non elected office of the TSA and FMCRA and once you get out here you will learn the HoS rules are NOT about safety but more about Parents against Tired Truckers having a victory. Like I said earlier I run elogs.. and I drive tired but "legal" more now than ever you can't stop that 14 hour clock to eat to #### to take that 2 hour nap you need to stay awake the rules are extremely dumb but until they are changed they are what they are.[/QUOTE]
No you can't beat them driver BUT...you can turn them to your adavantage. All your time eating, sleeping etc. can be ( questionable ) put on line 2 sleeper. While it doesn't stop the 14 ... you are collecting drive hrs on the back side of the remainder of your split break and.... if you don't use the hrs. to roll on....they push your 70. All you have to do is stop 2. It's about planning. -
walstib, what you're failing to understand here is that there are varying degrees of running legal. Nobody runs totally legal, and that's a fact. Those that tell you different are liars or just really don't know any better. And ignorance is no excuse of the law.
Nobody is going to show "on duty" for a six hour load. What they will show is 15 or 30 minutes on duty.
Think about it, you pull up to the guard shack and show them your paperwork and they assign you a door#. That took two minutes, you find the door and back into it. You have been there for seven minutes total, you have absolutely nothing else to do for the remainder of your 6 hour wait time. Technically you are on duty the entire time you're there, but you are either going to show Off Duty, or sleeper berth time. After all, you don't have anything to do but watch tv, read a book or maybe catch up on your paperwork, or take a nap. You cant leave the truck because your technically responsible for the truck/trailer, and possibly verifying product that actually goes on the truck.
Prior to all this our driver was smart enough to find a place to hide (park over night) so he only had two miles to drive to get to his destination. This has preserved his 14 hour daily rule. This is rarely easy to do. This means you knew where you were headed and had intimate knowledge of the area previously. This comes with experience, and it does not mean we are prostitutes!
BUT, if a Dot officer was watching you the entire time, and then asked to see your log book as you exited the gate. If you have done anything other than log 6 hours ON Duty you're getting a ticket. Not only are you getting a ticket, but i can guarantee you you're getting put Out Of Service right then and there. As a newbie, your company will more than likely fire you for such a serious violation. But, NOBODY is going to show more than 30 minutes to an hour loading, otherwise its a paycheck killer. Its a total catch 22
Again, think about it, you just spent SIX hours of your life getting your truck and trailer loaded. Very VERY few companies pay you any load time, and NONE of the big OTR companies will pay you for that. You made ZERO dollars sitting there for six hours. You just aren't going to burn up Driving time hours or 70 rule hours for that day by showing on duty until the last half an hour before you leave.
Oh, and what if its a live unload, and you are responsible for lumping the load? How ya handle that one???
Here is another situation that happens on a daily basis. You are in a heavily truck populated area, and its after 6pm. You have only an hour left to find a parking spot. You haven't eaten all day since you spent way too long getting loaded, and had to make up time by staying in a drivers seat. You see a rest area (woohoo they have vending machines for dinner) you duck in there only to find out there are NO truck parking spaces. Next truck stop is 30 miles away, so you haul butt there only to find out NO parking spaces are left. Next rest area is 45 miles away. OOOps that now puts you over your driving hours for the day. What ya gonna do? If you park illegally and you get a ticket company will fire your butt. If you continue on, you're driving illegally. WHAT YA GONNA DO? Magical parking spots just don't open up cause you want them to, and you cant park in the middle of the interstate!
THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU ON A NEARLY DAILY BASSIS, AND THATS NO ########!!! We are a serious source of revenue for the states, and the DOT can pull us in, and take our money any time they feel like it. Don't matter how legal you run, if they want to give you a ticket they will give you a ticket. They just have to look for a while. Like I said earlier, it ain't fair, but that's the way it is.
You're still wrong about us being prostitutes, lot lizards don't pay taxes...Everett, Raiderfanatic and Milk_n_Cookies Thank this. -
I'll try to be more polite...
