Hi -I am new to the trucking industry. I entered the industry to try and make a difference- I have great respect for the men and women who keep the economy of our country rolling. However, after a year I am feeling disappointed -I am wondering if there are any good trucking companies to work for-Are their companies that treat drivers with respect. Treat people fair. Dont promote fudging log books-follow the rules -maintain their trucks -pay drivers decent -can someone please tell me who these companies are or should I call it quits - I live in the Surrey area -thanks
advice

call it quits....

I would look at changing divisions
If you are in van try flat or reefer
Look ar
Maverick
Heartland express
Sharky
Boyd Bro's
I'm not indorsing any of these guys but I have heard some good things about them more than most companies you see getting bashed ...
No company is flawless but some are better than others -
hi -thank you both for the advice -i will give it a try at another company before calling it quits -i will go with the attitude that it takes 1 good person at a time to change the industry -its sad to think that there might not be a place that pays drivers what they are worth and treats them with respect -from the office to the top of management -those jobs are only there because of the drivers -i see drivers as customer service. dispatch assistance-sales people-road side mechanics -managers of their trucks-record keepers-know to me that sounds like multi-skilled job that should pay well - it might sound like i have alot to learn about the industry but i think the industry has alot to learn about how to treat people -so wish me luck -thanks again for the advice

the best companies are usually the small mom and pop companies with 3 or 4 trucks... I started out with werner and did my time there and moved onto an outfit that has 3 trucks and gets me home every weekend and pays well.. before you call it quits you should take my advice and look into a small company before you hang it up

In the next year or so I think you will see a huge shift away from company's trying to make drivers run illegal.
With CSA2010 the company's that slipped under the radar before no longer will be able too. They will be forced to clean up there act's or they will loose their operating authority.
This is what CSA was set up to do. Drivers are worried about it due to the PSP, but company's have allot more to worry about than drivers.
Working in the office you really just need to find a company that suits you.
There are some larger company's that have a more family type operation in the offices. Maybe not so much with the drivers, but office staff at many company's are compensated very very well. Much better than most drivers.
