No need to worry. Each persons case is different. Just go through the pysical and see what they say. Yea it was crap to be sent home, I even had the machine and have used it for years. The recording card fell out somewhere, and I never replaced it. No one had ever used it before. Then I find out I owe them for the buss ticket and two nights at the motel!! My fault, I didn't read the fine print I guess. They did pay for the ticket to get me home. Good Luck.

Well here I sit in Plain, OH tonight. My power converter for my computer took a dump last weekend and just got a new one at Radio Shack today.
Can't remember where I was or who I was with , but seems I was hoping last week. Five loads, 3040 dispatched miles.
Last I remember was heading to Rogers, AK for some chicken and now on my way to an 0530 drop monday morning in Springfield, MA.
Think I'm about 12 hours ahead of the rain that keeps moving east.
Well I finally had it happen.
    Knew it would one day....
Was at the deli counter of a Wally food store. Two clerks. both chattering in spanish.
    I asked, "hable inglez?"
    "no, senor."
    "nada? un poquito?"
    "no.
"su amiga?" (pointing to the other one)
    "no."
So I finally ran into a department where they spoke absolutely no english.
fortunately, I speak fluent Italian (my first language) and stumble thru spanish (usually with some Italian mixed in)
    So where was this?
    Laredo?
    Santa Fe?
    San Diego?
    Nope....how about Rogers, AK.
    Mama mia facilatia!
TLea...wouldn't have worked in Hammond anyway. They sent me out of there faster than a ##### in church with a hot load headed to San Antonio. Then a six dumper from Michael Angelos. I dropped the first one in Dallas, then gave it up to a local. (no time anyway)
Didn't even get to the truck stop before they had me headed to Rogers.
Made it to OK before running out of hours.
Love the running tho. No complaints.
Well, maybe that twisted RB in the dispatch window at Tyson....

Good to hear from you emulsified....at times they just keep one running and running....
then something happens, and breaks the loop....

route to the yard for 90 day safety, home time, both seem to break that loop.

Now rogers AK, most of the staff at wally world is Spanish speaking, does not surprise me though, that a chicken plant is the main employer in that town.

Is there a good window clerk at any tyson plant?

me, here I am in Denver CO, at the TA for the weekend...had a pick up friday morning in dallas, that delivers on Monday AM....and the reciever is only open monday to friday. So no early delivery.

This TA has added a "security guard"

I've been looking into cell phones the past couple days as I figure I'll be needing one along with some internet connection for the lap top as well. I'm going to go for the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon. It's a android smart phone. Anyone using one of those for their phone and hotspot?

    Howdy yall.
Not a bad week, but not a great week. One shipper had an accident and was 'down' for a day. This of course the night before I was to pick up there. So, got a different load headed for Cali, via train, but I couldn't get it to the rail yard in time. So was told to drop at local yard nearby we use a lot. Seemingly, as I was just sent a QC, no one picked it up to get it to the rail yard as it's still sitting there. sigh. Then I get a load another drive can't make by end of his 11 by a half hour. sigh. So I take it and get it where it needed to go five hours late. At least I wasn't sitting around a lot. Don't know my miles, too worn out to add them right now, lol. Besides, I'm off the truck for another twelve hours yet.
Having every weekend off for about 36 - 40 hours is nice, but having five days off in a row has distinct advantages too.

    Hi folks,
A few posts back I talked about being sent home to record 5 consecutive nights usage on my cpap machine. Well that is done and I will be setting up training for the second go.

I will be attending training on the 1st of November. My question is on planning my finances. I will need to use the $70.00 food allowance. I realize it is a loan that I will pay back through payroll deduction. What I really need to know is, when will I get the first $70.00? I know the first $350.00 pay check is 3 weeks when we get on a truck.

Thanks for the help and support. This is a great service to all of us new folk.

Rolled into the truck stop here in Hartford, CT tonight with 3 minutes to spare on my 11. Did my log and it added up to 661 miles today.
Can't have made a mistake. Started at 0400, ended at 1500. No stops, just drove like hell.
Only have 50 miles to the receiver tomorrow morning.
Can't figure out how I averaged 60mph. I'm sure 'mother' will be checking it carefully.
Last time I did this, it was only 649 miles and she told me she had 'personally' checked my log and couldn't figure out how I did it either.
Think I'll volunteer for a Canadian load so they won't send me down to the city.
I don't mind driving around there, I just hate pulling a 53' trailer with me. :biggrin_25522:
The other thing that I can't figure out is how I averaged 7.7mpg on this trip. That's according to the fuel used, not the dash numbers.
    I've got 78,100 gross.
Tyson was late with the load and I almost asked for a repower, but just bit the bullet and put my foot into it. Could that be the secret of better mileage? Just run fast and hard? :biggrin_25525:

I've never used advances, but as I recall, you get a T check the day you head out with your trainer. I can remember being on the van to the airport and the driver having to stop so the students could run inside the check cashing place to get their checks cashed before flying out.

Ask your recruiter. They'll tell you.
