Amen Brother, remember when the much vaunted CDL was going to get us outlaws off the road and fix everything...Look where we are now...I just wish I was 10 years older, I'd love to let the the new guys do it. Guess what, most of them can't. We get HOS exemptions to run all the hours we can stand for ag chemicals and propane and guess what, it's us old outlaws that are still getting it safely done cause we know how to and not kill anybody. BTW, I enjoy all the old truck pictures you put in your posts. Some make me smile and others make me shiver...

Stay out of the truck stops. Too much money and make you fat. Day one, invest in a little fridge and keep it stocked. Bobtail to the supermarket when you need to restock. You´ll save a lot of money doing this.

What? No bud....... not true. If you stop to do whatever......and you pop up to line 2 for 2 hrs then you only owe the bunk 8 at the end of the day. Same with 3/7 and 6 /4 etc. So what I do is kill 2 birds with one stone or make the best of the worst. If I don't need the sleep then I take the time anyway to shorten my next break or push the 70.

Not many including myself can stay in the sleeper for 10 hrs.

There is no argument........ there is creative planning.

So if I start my day at say 7am, and drive/on duty until 10am, go to line two for 2 hours, I can drive/be on duty (Line 3/4) for 9 more hours to 9pm to get to 11/14, then take sleeper for 8 hours and start my 14 again?

Not quite like that. You could drive 8 more hours by 9 pm, then take a break of 8 hours in the sleeper, then you could drive 3 more hours, then take 2 more hours break, and then drive up to eight more.!4 hours takes precedence over the 11 hours driving time, when you are at 14 hours, you can't legally drive anymore.

You have to count the hours on both sides of the breaks, and not exceed the 11/14.

It works for me better than driving 11 hours in 14 and taking 10 down.

    Wrong.

    Team Truck CAN run 24/7

Driver a, drives 11, goes to bed, driver b drives 11, driver a's 10 hour break has elapsed and may drive again..

    If I understand my instructor.

then BOTH drivers will end up taking a 34 hour restart each week...
most do NOT do this.... most (from what I have seen) drive 10-11, log 8.5 and switch....

Well Romans, actually most teams I know do run as hard and fast as we can so that we burn those hours and get a rest with a 34reset.

If you think you're tired now, try running as a team for 2 years and then see if you don't want those resets.
