Yep, mother will be checking that one very close...not stopping helps keep the average speed up, and I found with the cummins engine, once I was turned up to 66, I get the same fuel milage running 62 now as I did running 60 when I was governed at 62. But now I can climb those rolling hills so much easier.
I was told I was time compressing when I was on the yard. I listened, I asked question, then I asked for them to pick 3 of my daily logs at random, and show me where I was time compressing. ON all three, they could not find any. I was questioned if I was not logging all my stops, I don't stop but 1 to 2 times during a day. My dad trained me well to tie a knot in it, and hold it till we got there.
They key to good fuel economy, don't stop.

Sitting in Binghamton NY tonight at the Pilot. They sent me after one load, then switched it half way thru my deadhead.
Panic! Have a hazmat load that needed to be picked up last friday. Has to move.
what the heck? Off I go.
Picked it up, got to the Pilot on fumes (boy does that last quarter tank go down fast!) and found out I haven't got a trailer registration. (should have caught that in the pretrip...)
Call Safety, call my new DM (yea...got switched today. Seems they moved my DM into something else...but I know the one I got...Antwon. Worked with him before. He's good to me) Everyone tells me it will have to wait until morning to fax it here.
I have to leave by 0300 if I'm to make my 0830 delivery 852 miles from here wednesday morning.
Send a QC. Need repower if I don't get registration.
get message back, "just run without it"
Told them I would not move without the registration.
Safety got involved finally. Had my fax within 15 minutes.
Amazing!
So off to Tennesse I head tomorrow morning. -
Got to love the attitude, can't walk down the hall to a file cabinet, find the trailer registration and fax it, no have to wait until driver services comes to work...
Way to stand your ground. Many drivers would have ran without the registration. I stay over at the TA in Binghamton.
Don't you love when they just up and switch DM's on you?
Stopped for the night in garden city KS....picked up in Holcomb..DLD tomorrow at 1900...load was ready when I got there at 1700 today. The wind was howling across Kansas, and I was tired of fighting it, and only had 2 hours left on my 14 anyway...
Will just run early and hard tomorrow, and then try and get repowered off it as it does not deliver until Friday Morning in New Jersey. Besides I have a full 70, hate to waste them hours. -

Hey Yall
All done with first half of training except I am still on the truck. Today is my 40th day but it will be my last. My 35th day was Wednesday. I was in Seguin, Tx of all places. Me being from San Antonio I had faint hopes that I would be put on a bus and maybe get to see the loved ones. It was not to be. We were dispatched to LA with a load of chicken.
So off we go. I made the weekly call to counselor who said he would arrange a produce load to get me back to the yard. He did but due to a misunderstanding with the Sunday Produce person and a serious mix up/delay getting loaded my produce load was repowered out from under us in Albuquerque.
I call counselor who after all said and done fixes me up with a bus ticket. Just as I was going to call for a cab my trainer repowers another driver who was already at the truck stop. Oh, he had just gotten a pre plan sending him to Boston so needless to say I wanted off that sucker. Anyway, the repower goes to Amarillo. End result is I stayed on the truck, drove myself to Amarillo and got counselor to make the necessary changes for me to ride the dog into mesquite tomorrow.
I am spending my last night on the truck but will go with the trainer to make the delivery in the morning. The customer happens to be a few blocks from the greyhound. I was very unhappy but #### happens as they say.
We spent the last two weeks roaming around the western part of the county. I drove over 5 major mountains and a bunch of minor ones. I drove dang near 11,000 miles and as previously mentioned spent 40 days getting trained up.
So ends trainer part one. Expect to be in Orientation Wednesday morning.
Couple of random notes. I lost 10 lbs in the last 40 days. The radio (music) was never in use while either of us drove. Did not see or notice any Lot Lizards until today, my last day. Lady taped me on the shoulder at 10am and asked if she could date me. I declined by the way. Couple minutes later police swooped down on another lady who was chatting up another driver parked across from me. Nobody got arrested after all said and done. Favorite truck stop is TA in Ontario, the one that charges for parking. Went there twice. Favorite mountain crossing was Donner Pass. Most difficult state to drive through was West Virginia. Drove through it twice. Not a flat piece of ground in the whole state. Loved NYC, of course I wasn't driving.
Oh, on waving to other Steven's drivers on the road....I stick my whole arm out the window and wave like crazy. Might need to go back to the half hearted raising of the arm with the finishing trainer but as soon as I can will be sticking the arm out the window again.
Be back after I get on the road again. Be safe.Johnny 99 Thanks this. -
