What are you messing up on? Are you just choking because it is a test?

some state Mass for instance, at the DMV test site, allows a student to get out of the truck 3 times to check his progress. also in Mass, they allow you 3 pull ups to make corrections.

now, i take it you are from NY so how does the NY state DMV operate, do they allow you to get out at all, to make correction pull ups...???

if not, then when you are at the school practicing, you NEED to get out and check your self. it does not take much to go over any painted line at the DMV and be "out" or hitting a cone or two.

in Mass, it costs the students $90 for each time a student has to go to the DMV for a road test, but this goes for police "detail pay" which is extra pay for the trooper. otherwise, without a detail fee, there is no extra cost. i do not know if NY state has detail pay or not for the DMV troopers. but if they do, then ask that you DO NOT have a detail, and then make an appointment at the earliest convenience.

the sight side and blind side parallel parking moves are difficult. but i have always seen a student do the blind side easier than the sight side. again, mirror watching is what you need to do constantly.

you will find however that in your real life as a trucker, you'll rarely have to do either. most times, you'll be straight backing and off side alley dock.

it is common for a school to kick you out if you do not pass. not good, but it does happen. my current employer, we never kick out a student. you pass your tests, THAT'S your graduation day.......so you work till you pass your tests.

practice, practice, practice..........think, and concentrate. make sure your mirrors are properly adjusted, BEFORE the tests start. if you are allowed to get out and check your progress, remember, if you think you are backing up 2" you are really moving about 1 foot.......

Onthefence..is this loan due in December already for the driving school? Is this with driver solutions? I thought there was time to pay it back.
Did they give you enough yard time to feel comfortable going out on the road? If you have come this far on your investment, you may want to pay what is necessary to finish what you started.
Best of luck to you on your training...Maybe it is just nerves.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I second that. All of our most difficult trucking questions get referred to him.

There is no DMV trooper. Your road test is on a real road. I was supposed to be finished already, so there has already been 'time' to start paying on the loan.

As for backing, it is a matter of me not being able to correct a drift until it's too late and sometimes I can't tell if the truck is straight or not. You can't teach that over the Internet.

There is no more practice. The next test will be either November 3rd or 4th. The school will probably not offer more than 2 weekend days of training and even that is up to them as they feel that have given me more than enough time.

Sure seems wrong to me for the exorbitant tuition they ask for. I applied to Driver's Solutions online and had a phone appt set up one hour later and the recruiter told me I already had a "pre-hire" with USA truck..How in the heck can anyone want to prehire someone without even looking into their background?
Anyway, if I make the commitment, which I told the recruiter I would need a few weeks to consider, and he said fine, I am still wondering why the school they want to send me to wants 6,000.00 while if you have the cash you can pay 3,000.00 instead to the same school. Something wrong with that picture.
Anyway, I hope they give you all the help you need. In my opinion, and for the cost, you should have as much time as you need for the outrageous cost of the course.

Did you move from Rensselaer? I know it's been a while since I graced the area I was born in, but there are lots of farms around you? Admittedly mostly dairy farms, but they are farms.

As for the military if you have had prior service you can subtract that from your age. If that puts you below 35 you can get in. You have 4 huge Fire Depts. in your back door. See what they offer. Last I knew some paid FDs required Class Bs and Class A for the Hook 'n' Ladders and crane type ladder trucks.

I tried to get in the National Guard for 5 years. Long story-no go.

Once again, the loan. The lender requires a company that is willing to reimburse the tuition.

I did the same thing but I did pass on my first time out , but I prayed that morning with another driver before we both took our test. Now as far as job placement assistant that means nothing , my school had the same thing and all it means is that they will give u info on diff companies out there . Now I don't know if rhoel offers training but if they do why don't u just go through their training to get ur cdl a and work for them at the same time.
Good luck on ur test and ur career.
